I used the PlayDoh like material to secure the ring. It is blue in color, but exactly what it is I need to ask Tom as he said he got it from HomeDepot. The ring is made of aluminium. Tom gave it to me for free (He is my local club member and also my friend ) as he also made one for his DX7 radio. Check out his DX7 here and also some information about the cyclic ring:

It sounds like the blue stuff for ataching the ring is a product called Blue Tack. It works great for hanging posters and such on walls. Any hardware store or Walmart should have it.
