How do you know if your gyro is bad?

I had purchased a blade 400 used from another guy. I have never gotten to fly it do to the issues I've had with the gyro.
Here is what it does not with all factory settings.

Tail rotor pitch moves in the same direction wether I move the stick left or right. When I turn the heli, the rudder servo does not move.

This is my first experience with a computer radio, and also my first time with a gyro (been with cp up till now).

Thanks for any help you all can offer.

Thanks for the help guys.

fast400 - I live in Roseville, but am pastor of a new church in shelby twp. We meet at 24 and Vandyke.

Thanks so much for your offer!!!

I am going to do as was previously suggested and return all the settings to original. If that doesn't work, I sure could use your help. I'm lost when it comes to this thing...and all I want to do is hover!

Thanks!

Troy

Sorry guys,
Been too busy for the blade 400.

I stopped by my local hobby shop...they said they could order one for me. Rather than wait, I went to radio shack and found a replacement. I had to solder the leads on but the switch works great!

I am at the office now. When I get the Radio shack part number I will post it.

ec130 - if you can't find the part or get it through horizon, let me know. I'll try to help you out.

By the way,

I still have not figured out my issues with that gyro. My inexperience combined with undiagnosed issues = no flying for me.

I will keep posting till I get a solution.

hey troy.
do you know off hand what the settings in the reverse menu are for the rudder and gyro?

when you move the rudder stick left, the pitch slider should move right, and the same for if you move the stick right, the slider should move left.

when you spin the main blades BY HAND clockwise, the tail blades spin counter clockwise.
the tail blades thickest edge is the leading edge, this edge is what cuts the air first. AND the thick edge of the blades are inline with the silver ball`s on the grips. for the main blades, thickest edge cuts the air first.

with the heli`s tail pointing to you`r left, tail blades faceing you, makesure they are spinning like i mentioned earlier.
now if you are still haveing a issue with the rudder only moveing one direction no matter which way you move the rudder stick, i would have to say something you might have over looked in the radio is mixed.
like something in the mix1 or mix2 menu`s, or something in the revomix menu.
make sure all toggle switchs are in the (0) value on the radio, go through every menu in the radio and BESURE there is no mixing set.
you do this by looking at every value in every menu while you flip each toggle from (0) to (1).
every value EXCEPT for the values in the gyro menu should be identical.
the gyro menu should be (0)=47% (1)= 67% or higher.
check this out and let me know what`s what.

i forgot to mention a way to test the servo.
unplug the gyro from the rudder channel of the reciever, this is the plug with the three wires in it, not the singal yellow wire.
plug the servo directlly into the rudder channel, then move the rudder stick left and right, if the servo moves both way`s, then it`s a gyro issue.

Part for Broken Trainer Toggle
I too trashed my trainer switch...Not a problem until I need to bind...What did you end up getting to replace? I was concerned that if I did not get a switch where I had to pull and hold to bind, that I would mess everything up. Horizonhobby was less than helpful...and to be honest, losing my transmitter for 3 weeks and x amount of dollars is not my favorite option.
