I've just gotten around to unpacking my lipo packs for my Rex 600e (AirThunder 5000 mAh/6S1P/22.2v). I have 4 of them, 3 took a top-off charge just fine. The 4th is giving me problems. I have a Thunder Power TP-1010C charger and a Thunder Power TP-210V balancer. The balancer is blinking an out of balance condition and the charger says I have a cell or two that is off by .20 or higher. Since I just moved here, to the Azores Portugal, some of our household goods have arrived and we are waiting on the rest to arrive sometime next month. Guess what box my charger and balancer manuals are in???
I was of the impression that if I left the lipo pack connected to the balancer, it would bring the voltage of the higher cells down closer to the lower cells. Is this correct? I let the charger dis-charge the pack for a couple of minutes thinking this might help things out. It's still beeping out-of-balance at me, but I got the charger to kick in and charge the pack at an average of .30 mAh for the last 15 min.
Should this bring my pack back if I let it run or is it too far gone??
Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Ted

I would think that that would depend on the actual voltage of the cells . I the voltage of the 'offending' cell is under 3V , the balancer isn't going to be the answer on it's own , even if the cell is recoverable .

Can you determine what the voltages of the individual cells are ?

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

The individual cell voltages are as follows:
Cell 1: 4.00 v.
Cell 2: 3.91 v.
Cell 3: 3.97 v.
Cell 4: 4.07 v.
Cell 5: 4.10 v.
Cell 6: 3.88 v.

I broke out my old math skills and subtracted the lowest cell fromt he highest cell and got a difference of .12 V.
I hope this info helps

The cells all have safe voltages .
I would just use your balancer until the cells are within 0.1V of each other (make sure that they all stay above 3V) , then balance charge at 0.5C . That should sort them out .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Cell 4: 4.07 v.
Cell 6: 3.88 v.

I make that 0.19V .

I just had a brand new turnagy 6s lipo come up out of balance by like .328 volt.My hyperion charger was left on with the pack,it took like 2 hours, but it brought it up balanced.Ive flow the pack twice so far with no more unbalance issues.I hope its not the logic in your Tp charger.I have 2 Tp 610,s and use them as drink coasters now because of the same issue your having. When a pack becomes out of balance, the chargers just stops with a warning of overcharge in cell #4 for example. It doesnt attemp to fix the issue, just stops.I can take the lipo off,and put it on my hyperion or even on one of my Venom 50watt chargers, and it will bring the pack up to balance. So dont condem the pack until you try it on a different charger.

Nivlek,

I was using that new math that they were trying to teach us back in the 70s and 80s. LOL.

Hehe Nivlek and strat1960s
biggest diff is 4.10V - 3.88 = .22 V. .22 is actual a big difference for begin unbalanced.

Unlike my smaller 500 2500 6s packs, I find all my 6s 5000 packs soon start to never fully balance with my V/balancer (after the first 10 - 20 cycles) the lights flash through the entire charge.

A while back I gave all my old 6s 5000`s to a guy starting out just to hover with as they were no good for 3d and going on 1 - 2 years old, I said use them at your own risk, I could not beleive I seen hime hovering with them yesterday and there still going

I was going to throw them away 6 months ago.
