To all..

A check on the MSH web site shows the new Polycarbonate canopies are now available, along with the retooled version of the original for the purists!

I looked at them today. The new sceme is too weird for me but the old sceme in polycarb is a winner!
I can't believe that they didn't offer a clear one that you could paint in you own style.

yeah, the new design is aweful.
I was fairly happy with the Carbon version canopy, just needed to be in plastic, and have the original prototype helis screen profile.

For the love of the hobby

I don't care for it much either. I do however like the carbon version, it was the best, each to their own it's a matter of taste I suppose.

Actually I like the design, what I don´t like is the price, uuuuuh 32 Euros that is close to $ 40 for a PLASTIC canopy.... not exactly what you would call "agressive pricing"

Unfortunatly the pricing does leave the door wide open for knockoffs.

Price on msheli.com includes VAT. For a better feeling, compare the price of the current FG canopy on msheli.com and readyheli.

It's EUR 34.80 and $36.99.

And we have yet to see how this "plastic" compares to the cheap ones we're familiar with.

Yes but an FG canopy is handmade and handpainted, hence costs a multiple of the production cost of a polycarbonat canopy, which automaticaly pops out of a mold 5 times a minute. So irrelevant of 15 pct VAT, don´t compare apples and oranges please.....

It looks like you are not very familiar with prepainted thermoformed parts. Unfortunately they don't "popoup" 5 times a minute, i wish they did.

I like both designs of canopies -- I personally happen to love the older style -- thanks for making it available again

Hi Corrado,

I think your gettin´on thin ice: Even if they are produced into prepainted moulds I would asume it cannot be anywhere near your interestt, publicly discussing the manufacturing costs of 1000 painted FG canopies vs 1000 coloured PLC canopies.....
But to avoid any mistunderstanding: Making PLC canopies is a great idea from an estetical (they look great), technical (they are light) and a business point of view

No thin ice here. Final user cost reflects production costs.

Corrado,
Isn't the old style canopy that's with the new releases a polycarbonate one also?
