Hey Chapter. 2 flights on mine today and all I can say is Convert, Convert, Convert! Don't fly that thing as a nitro. It is so smooth and sounds so much better than with the vibs and all that smoke. You are doing such an awesome job on that fuse, it deserves to be electric. I stuck the blue head dampners in mine today also and that helped along with bumping my headspeed up to 1650. Just a few balance and trim issues to iron out and I'm good to go. Now just need that gear!

AFjetmech,

Thats good new! Yeah...I'm thinking about the convertion electric kit but not sure if its 100% robust. I'm waiting for the Align to come out Trex 700E kit. I heard this kit will arrive sometimes this summer. Can you share of some your heli. build pictures. What convertion kit did you buy? cc: me the link to the website. I want to check it out...Sound you are very happy with it thats awesome. Now you make me thinking and save some bucks doing this way.
I'm also thinking about 4 MRB's head so I hope the electric convertion will do the job. Have you seen anyone done this?

Thanks,

Chapter

I converted a Raptor 90 with info I found here and on RC Groups. It was easy, plus I had the fuse set up for the Raptor already. You can see I just made an aluminum motor mount plate and that is simply bolted to the fan shroud. The pinion is mounted on a shaft that runs up to a bearing in the old clutch block for top support. I have one battery mounted were the fuel tank was, and the other up front. I used 2 5000 mah 6s Turnigy's in series. I could have went with 4000mah batts as an 8.5 minute flight is only using about 3000mah. I'm running 1650 headspeed.

Trex 700E soon I get everything done with the fuse. Thanks for sharing. I didn't work much on my heli today and yesterday...I was out the field flew my JR Vibe 90 Nitro. The weather was so nice here in Savannah last couple days.

That looks bad ass! Can't wait to see a vid of them retracting. You have a good size hole to fill up now behind that nose gear.

CNC Retracts
Chapter,
A truly spectactular job of redesigning the retracts and the struts and drag links....Wow. (Are the DL's mounted backwards on the mains?)
When you get them into production, I would like to order a set...
If I had the inclination and time I would follow in your footsteps..

I had to wash the house today so I didn't get to airbrush the touch-ups for the Graupner A109 fuse.
I received my 22mm searchlight and mount yesterday and very impressed with both the quality and the brightness..
I should have stuck with a commercial version as I wouldn't have half the accessories to mount..

Thanks AFjetmech and Victor,

Yeah, the original kit the DL's mounted is backwards on the mains gear so I reversed it.

Here is a short video of the Retract Gear System installed into the fuselage:

Hi Afjetmech,

Yes it should be ready to flight soon...but I kind of taking my time at this phase of the project because I want to get all others details incorporated as well before first flight.
I'm searching for 4 blade rotor head to buy. lighting system, and most likely design a cockpit with SLa type casting myself using the CAD system, etc...

My band is booking many gigs up coming this summer. This will keep me off from the project for sure. Anyway, I will keep posting the project progress...I'm planning to take this heli with me to Muncie Indiana this year.

My 3G Align flybarless control system is now being fix/upgrade with V2 release software with Heli Whole Sale in NJ.
I should get this unit back in two weeks.
I heard V2 software fixed the problems the tail and elevator.

Meanwhile, I'm back on track cont. to finish up the fuselage.

will be right back!

So, I flew my new V2 3G flybarless this afternoon.
Aileron and Elevator at 50% gain per the manual setting worked great. I didn't have to change the settings. However, the tail still a bit bubbling. I didn't know why it was bubbling until I got home and took a closer look at the heli. I found the clutch was broken. That is why the heli was a little vibe. at low rpm when I spooled up and down. But at idle up the vibe. went away. The heli flew great doing loop, roll and inverted hover. It's freaking fast, felt so much lighter, and very stable. Anyway, I have to order a new clutch next Monday. This heli is down for this weekend for repair.

I think this mechanic is about ready to go back to the Agusta fuselage for 1st flight.

Glad that didn't happen in your Agusta. Hope you get someone to video the Agusta flight. Let me know when you're ready to ditch your prototype retracts after you make an updated version, which I'm sure you will.
