Yes if you use COD there is no way you can get screwed. IF buyer doe not pay the Delivery person then he don't ge the item and then you get the item back. So no one gets screwed. I haven't brought anything in a while on here but with all the posts on here with people being screwed my next perchase will be COD and if tghe other party don't want to agree with it then youy know they where trying to scam you.

If he is scamming you he deserves more than just a felony, he deserves a beat down. I get so sick of people scamming other people on here and Helifreak. I hope for your sake you get your money back, but if you don't at least it was only $40 and not $500 like some people I see. I am curious as well about the COD thing, I'm not sure how that works since i've never done it. I know what COD means, so please no one explain it, but how do you get it setup at the post office?

COD means cash on delivery
I think all you do is fill out a piece of paper with some info at the PO and mail it to the other PO who then delivers it to your customer and they collect the cash from the buyer and the buyer has to sign for the item too proving it was delivered. BUT like was written on here earlier what's to stop you from then opening the box after the mailman has left and it's loaded with junk not the item you thought so still not really any better.

I deal in Postal MO's because it's the same as cash and usually the PO will cash them for you right then and there and or you can deposit it in your bank account nom chance of it being bad same as cash.

Like someone wrote here it's a federal instrument so if someone screws with you file a claim with the PO and it's now a federal offence mail tampering which they don't take lightly.

Oh No Someone Please Stop Me Before I Go Broke With This Heli Thing!!

I truly hope there is a good reason for the delay and that everything is okay with his family etc. Just a simple PM with a GOOD phone number and additional info would be at least a start.

Come on brandov2,please chime in or reply one way or another. You have had good feedback so far.

guys....you open the box when he is standing in front of you. If it's a "box of crushed cans".....you refuse delivery and you lose nothing.
Boys, it's been done this way for decades.

Bump... I hope you get this resolved.

I had a long discussion with my bank about money orders and they said that money orders are essentially checks that must be cleared. Yes they have extra protections built into the money order but they are not as good as cash despite what everyone will tell you. There are such things as fake money orders. If you cash it at your bank it could bounce within a week or so if it is fake just like a check. The banks have no way to know if it is bad just like checks. If it bounces then they know.

I do agree that money orders are better than checks... they are not as good as cash though.

I was a city delivery driver for 10years and NEVER did I allow anyone to open a box BEFORE they signed for it and I was walking away. This is because if you have received the wrong item, or it is busted from the trip, it is now a matter of damaged goods, not my problem. I was a "delivery" driver, same as the mail man has become these days, as well as UPS drivers(in fact especially), therefor, I will have to receive an order to come and pick it back up, to have it sent back, or refused. Thats just the way it is, nothing personal against anyone. Once you sign for it, it's yours. If every delivery I had to wait for the customer to open it and inspect it, I wouldn't be able to make all of my deliveries for each day.

Ive sent heli parts to people on this RR thinking there hardup and trying to get into the hobby cheap, trying to help out, then never heard a single thing about how there heli went.

I do a search for there posts a few months later and I realise its all classified "wheeling and dealing", obviously swapping this and swapping that, trying to amass as much parts as they can for free.

Invariably if you read there posts over the months, the old "wife has cancer" or "I got sick and lost my job" line always apears at some point.

Just buy new parts from LHS or Online retailers and fly helis and steer clear of the classifoed forum IMO, its full of sharks!

Spitfire1, just because someone mainly posts a lot in the classifieds is not in itself a bad sign. They might just be more active on another site but prefer to go here for sales. Like myself .

I might just be lucky so far but I have bought a bunch of stuff from the classified section for a few years on this site without any problems. I am aware though that there is a risk. I try to be careful and check posts to see how much they have sold before and if there is very little of that then I go by how long they have been actively posting normal conversations but I would be very cautious without both. I know that is not foolproof but so far I have been lucky.

I have to say in regards to this post, I have a gut feeling theres nothing untoward going on, probly just something happened.

Theres many things thant can happen in a persons life that can make a $50 dollar transaction not a main priority, death in the family, serious illness, a car crash .. the list goes on and on, the guy could of lost his internet conection, who knows..

I once swapped an ESC for another ESC with a guy in the US (I live in Australia) Im sure the guy must have started to think he had been scammed by me, as from memory it was close on 2 months before it got there, I was really sweating it for a while until it finally arived at his end.
