Just found out that the clutch is loose in the hub. Doesn't fit snug like it does in the 50 hub. Has anyone ran into this problem? I tried calling all day today to John @ Genisis, never got an answer or answering machine. I was planning the maiden voyage tomorrow, but I don't want to take a chance. Also should I put the JB weld between the 1 way bearing and bearing hub?

Just call me Farmer Brown. 'Cause I know how to really plant 'em

When we discussed this on the phone prior to your purchase I explained using a strip of 0.015" thick aluminum, which is JB Welded to the clutch's pilot to shim it out. Just trim a small piece to fit, similar to the way a clutch liner is trimmed to fit inside a clutch bell, but on the outside of the clutch's pilot shaft, then apply epoxy.

Next insert the whole thing into the clutch hub (lube the hub with wax, or a Chapstick so it doesn't stick if a bit of epoxy oozes out) and let it cure. By the way, this was petmotel's excellent idea. Alternatively, use a short band of K&S brass tubing to shim the pilot shaft (I did this with satisfactory results but pet's method is better).

Anyway, like I said, this is part of the speil on the phone for qualifying the customer before we ship this conversion, e.g. making sure you're able and willing to make the mods necessary to successfully complete the conversion. This is actually one of the easy things compared to trimming the crankshaft down and dial indicating the assembly, which you've already done.

As for JB Welding the autohub, which I also told you about on the phone, why on Earth are you asking about it here? Hmmmm.

BBC 91 problem
John: Sorry if I came off the wrong way. I have a hard time remembering things, thats why I tried calling you all day to get the info again. We are anxious to get it going. Thanks for the info again. I'll save it on my computer. Thats the only way I am to really remember things.

No worries. Our daughter has just moved back in with us and we're making adjustments, e.g. getting her enrolled in college, moving stuff around to make a bedroom, etc. and thus, family intruded on business hours today. Sorry I wasn't there for you.

Tintmaster, I'm curious how the fan hub dialed in. Seems I'm the only person who's ever done this mod in recent history to have the bad luck to get out of spec tapered nuts (I managed to get two of the 5/16" nuts for an OS that were .010" out of round). This turned out to be a serious PITA for me, the rest was really a breeze.

I really hope for the customer's sake you got this problem sorted JB.

BTW Tintmaster, it's OK to ask questions, this is a forum consisting of friendly RC enthusiasts capable of giving you a hand should you need it. Just disregard the occasional grumpy fellas

Tintmaster, I bumped an earlier thread detailing some BBC mods I made a while back. There is a better solution than epoxy in the stock hub there. Good luck, it's a ball when she's ready to rock.
