Well I went and got some Hydrochloric acid that was recommended and it seemed to help quite a bit, I took it then I ate Taco Bell wich always gives me wicked heartburn and I did not get it from that so that was nice then I thought I would give it another test for dinner and I ate a pastrami burger and fries and it did take a while to digest but it was later in the day and I was mostly just sitting around watching tv but I only got a slight amount of heartburn in the middle of the night but I didnt need anything for it because it was mild. Now both of these tests were extreme tests for the Hydrochloric acid and I had great results not 100% but as good or probably better then the heartburn meds. I dont know but maybe over a little time it will get back to 100% as my body has a chance to heal itself on the inside it is worth trying. Dilbeck did it work instantly for you or didit take a few days to become 100% heartburn free? Thanks everyone for the imput and I hope this can help us all because heartburn is a MISERABLE thing to have and sometimes makes you think you are having a heart attack or something.

It took over a week from trial and error on how much to take. Also I found its better to take the pills after 3/4 of your meal is eaten. How many and what mg are you trying???

Also if you have been on the meds as long as I have it took some time for my system to stabilize.

One other note, During the stabilising period you might experience slight heartburn. Dont eat a tums or Rolaids. Get yourself a bottle of DGL, Deglycyrrhizinated licorice tabs. (sold at any heath food store) These work like tums but are totally natural and really work. It will take aprox 3 weeks and you will be FREE forever....PM me for questions. I spoke with my doctor a few minutes ago and he said I should not be giving advise not knowing ones condition, but this cures 75% of heartburn problems amoung the general population. I understand and want to say this is for only 75% of the population! Your results may vary.. Good thing is you cannot be hurt by this advise.

I think you have great advice here- well worth someone with heartburn trying out.

The ones I am trying say to take 1 to 4 with food and 4 is 1300mg so that is the amount that I have been taking at dinner time. I have been on and off medication over the counter type zantac150 and prilosec for a while now (I hate taking them with so many side effects)and I like the idea of doing something that is natural and healthy for the body so I will give it a few weeks and see how it goes.

I dont take it as advice but more your experience and the outcome that you had with it, you are not telling us all to go out and get it you are simply telling us something worked for you and it may work for us there is no difference that and me telling my friend that prilosec or zantac worked for me and he should try it to see if it works for him too. I am glad you posted because I was looking for anything to help so I didnt have to take medications and I have tried about everything under the sun, I even found a bottle of natural heartburn relief stuff that I had in my cupboard and it had hydrochloric acid in it but it was just a very small amount (130 mg per suggested serving)and I think that is why it didnt work well for me. Any way thanks for posting it gives me hope that I can have full relief soon.

With this new found knowledge hopefully I can now eat anything I want and later worry about...clogged arteries J/K

All kidding aside, sadly I'm getting to the age that I'm looking at medical threads in a helicopter forum

I get heartburn once in awhile, actually more often than usual so thank you for this. I'm all into natural stuff to try.

Yes and ANOTHER thing to be carefull about taking prevacid and things like this where it tones down your acid, ESPECIALLY if you are a meat eater like me. Simply DON'T take the $hit! I say this as I did and it reduced my acid so much that I ended up getting a GOUT like symptom that took two years to rid of and if anyone here has ever had Gout or symptoms of such, it hurts like hell!! I am free of that now thank goodness!

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

i got some for my wife to try out,.

the health food store that i went to, the guy was talking about the way the body digest food.

he said that the body digest protein, carbohydrates, and veggies differently.

betaine hcl, is used for digestion of proteins. meats & fats

carbohydrates you use something else if that is what you have a problem with, or a lactose problem there is something else for that..

he said when you eat a whole meal, meat, bread, rice, veggies. the body is confused on the amount of acid to produce. because each food is processed differently, meat & fats in the stomach to brake it down, carbohydrates in the lower intestent, veggies just flows right through...

he said try to eat meat only, then 2 hours later, eat bread, then 2 hours later, eat veggies. so the body will work on the one type of food at a time..

he gave my wife some samples of a dietary supplement called
digest all, it is more of a all around digestive supplement

for the first time in 20 years and still eat barbeque, drink beer and smoke.
Don't let the doctor lie to you further by saying drinking a lot of beer will give you a hanging gut, and smoking may cause lung cancer.

So, you should be happy now with your cure for heartburn .

Stomach acid is for digesting everything, the enzimes need for certain foods vary greatly. Look into food combining to get the bigger picture.http://www.alderbrooke.com/chart.htm
