Just wanted to ask if it is appropriate to use a JR 500T Gyro on a 90sz Heli. for ex. Raptor 90, Jr Vigor CS 90, Freya 90. Just for basic pattern Flying and basic loops..no hard core 3d. im about to make a purchase and this is the Gyro that's on this heli and it's all built and setup and owner says it flies fine but just wanted to get more feedback as to what to expect on a gyro like this.

Reggie

Up is down & down is Up?? - Right is Left and Left is Right??,,,,arggghhhh,,,no 3d hear!!!

Works fine, comparable to a 401, just doesnt find neutral, so subtrim must be used. Holds fine for what your asking of it.

I have owned several JR G500's and still have one. I have also owned several 401's and still currently have one. I find the JR 500 has a more consistent piro. They are both good gyro's. The 500 will run the tail on your Raptor great. You *must* use subtrim to correct the drift with the 500, that is the main difference between the 500 and the 401. 401 'learns' where center is during initialization where the 500 has a fixed known center. What that means is you must use subtrim to make the TX center signal match the gyro's center. Easy to do on the bench. run your gain up to 100%. The servo will likely creep to one side. add subtrim until the servo creep stops. keep checking by moving the servo back to center then letting the rudder stick go. The reason to use sub-trim instead of trim is some radios have different trim settings per flight mode. sub-trim is a setting for all flight modes.

EDIT: find out which tail servo is on there. The tail servo is just as important for tail performance as the gyro. Properly setup I've done fast tail first flight and tail slides with my JR G500 equipped helis.
