Hey guys, so im kinda sick of the 401's piro rate. The solid g w/ g-view sounds pretty awesome, so does the 770 and spartan though! Im flying a raptor 50 with the align ds650...any feedback or reviews would be awesome!

don't cry it makes you look ugly...

To be honest the Mini G, Spartan, and JR770 are all good gyros, so you can't go wrong picking any of them.

All three gyros are very good and would be a huge improvement over your 401. However, my vote would go to the Spartan. The Spartan is easiest to set up in my opinion and you rarely hear of anybody having issues with it.

Keep an eye out as there will be alot of gyros available soon as Align has the new flybarless system available which is very user friendly from what I have read.

The Align GP750 is also far better than the 401.

And the 520 supports Sbus and is both stick and PC/USB programmable.
Plus it can be used on a size range from microheli to large machines..

Hey guys, so im kinda sick of the 401's piro rate.
Are you talking about how fast the heli spins or the consistency of rotation speed? If you want it to spin fast I have setup 401's to spin so fast that the guys standing near me are taking cover expecting the boom to fly off. If you are looking for a gyro with more consistent piro rate then a better gyro is on order. When it came time for me to decide I bought a 520, very happy with that choice. I'll bet that any of these listed in this thread will do a great job. There are others to add. I've been flying a Thunder Tiger TG7000 for over a year, I also like this gyro. The Intertia gets favorable marks from those that have flown it.

the spartan range of gyros also support SBUS/stick and usb....supported it before the 520 was released

cheers

@raptorheli2

I am just curious - how did the Spartan gyro line "supported"
Futaba Sbus even before Gy-520 was released ?

As far as my memory serves me at that time there was no Sbus
Receiver yet on the market, so nothing to plug the Sbus gyro to..

Do you mean that Spartan promised to support Sbus in some future,
via firmware upgrade ? Or was there any substance in that claim ?

just because no rx existed doesn't mean it couldn't be added.

yes a firmware change is all that was required.

i should also add imo it's not a needed technology. the only time it would be of use was a single wire from an RX to a flybarless system. since the flybarless makers seem to be favouring the satellite route sbus maybe finished before it even started for heli use.

cheers

thanks raptorheli2,

Yes the word "supports" has many different meanings,
often it's used as "it would eventually happen"...

..in my book this type of "support" is called
a "paper release" of a product or a feature...

On the other hand it's interesting to see that SBUS is getting
this kind of endorsement from other manufacturers. I think
also V-Bar and a new Helicommand can connect via SBUS...

If the SBUS "is finished before it's started" is something
we will need a bit of patience to wait and see ourselves

Btw. what is popular depends on where one is checking...
On my field it's 70% Futaba, some Robbe FX, and just a few
odd Spektrum or Graupner flyers. The only satellites
I have seen around are these hanging high in the sky ;-)

Cheers,

I have to say the Gy 520 is awesome. have it on my Align 500 and it's solid. Setting the servo limits was a bit confusing, but I'm pretty new. The size and weight are phenominal. The 750 that came with my 450 Pro has been a blessing, as well.

I had the JR G770 3D and Spartan, both aweosme gyros and hold awesome but I like the Spartan DS760 alot more over the JR G770 3D.The Spartan is just as easy to setup as a GY401 but holds the tail in any fast backwards flying you can do or throw at it.She WILL NOT LET GO,has consistent piro rate and flat out rocks.I love the spartan and have nothing at all bad to say about it and the price is awesome.Seems like I could wack the tail with a bat and the tail won't move,Spartan DS760/JR 8900G is a rock solid combo.
