4 lane highway is 1000 yards on the otherside so I can't do that. But we may try tearing it apart with a pellet gun or painball.

I know those can't go that far. The parking lot is up the hill so we'd be nearly flat from the side.

Gonna try the arrow and fishing line some more tomorrow. By the last 30 minutes we had a pretty good system going on if the wind is not that bad.

That tree does not look very healthy does it?

It did drop a little lower yesterday after the shaking.

OK, I can take a joke too....

A little sucess.
after launching arrows about 6-8 times I got one right over the plane.
Yanked and it dropped about 5 feet. I think it's hanging on barely at the tail to the point that some wind will knock it over some more.
I recovered some foam that fell to the ground.

looks like you could throw or shoot a line over that branch yank down on it and just bust it?

Or drop the tree and have a weenie roast!!!

She's down.
Winds blew her down another 10-20' over the weekend. The photo with the yellow circle is where it was this morning.
Rained on it too. Stepladder and poked it with a pole I had. It fell and then I wacked it some more through the vines till it was within reach from the ground.

I have it cooking at 120F in an industrial oven to help dry it out. Tonight after work I'll pull it apart and see how bad the circuit boards are. I can clean them at work, but won't use this stuff on anything but maybe a foamie or something.

The pic of the pole poking the plane, that looks familiar. Didn't someone get a heli down that way last year?

You should have left it high in the tree Mel. Thats where she wanted to finish out her time on earth. lol.

Glad to see you got her down. Can you glue it back together? Not sure. Looks like alot of damage.

Good luck

Brad

Nope, not reasonably fixable. Too much broken or now missing foam.
I pulled stuff apart and will test once it's had a couple days to fully dry out. I started to recharge the lipo. One cell is unusually high in the Internal Resistance and is not balancing right. Left it at work where I can charge it in a fireproof chamber.

I'll just get another EDF foamie and strip the parts for some later venture. No biggie. I did have some fun with that EDF even though I only got like 20 flights on it.

Mel,
Again thanks for the link but now the wife is looking at me cross eyed again. The last time she looked at me like this i ended up with a 600E.

They have some very nice planes. Shipping looks okay. The blue Angel is smoking hot.
Very nice prices too.

I had to fly off pavement which is why I was flying at my work where there are some nearby trees. I think I'll get a hand launch F-16 since I can fly that at my field and belly land it.

Lipo cell #1 is toast. It self discharged overnight.
As a "can I do it" project, I opened it up to expose the circuit board. I then moved the deans plug wire eliminating cell #1. Then cut the balance wire off of cell 1 and shifted the wires on the balance port so that now I have a 3S 2200mAh lipo that is a bit heavy. I'm gonna cycle it a couple times. If it seems to operate, I'll pull the shrink wrap out and remove the dead cell.
