Lunchtime flight of F22 EDF in the back parking lot. Crosswind pushed me towards the trees and I was turning it around. Boy, those trees are alot closer than I thought. CRASH!!!!!
We got it on film but the cameraman dropped the camera when we went down to the tree. It's on the tape but I can't play it back w/o a bunch of lines showing up. Here are some pics.
It's still back there but I think with enough wind, it will come down. I don't think the electronics will survive the rain that's gonna hit tonight or tomorrow though. I may try some fishing line and a bow&arrow or crossbow tomorrow.

Looks like that one may need a bit more than hot glue.

Seems the flag may be missing a stripe?

you can borrow my stand to fix it.

The title reminds me of a funny TV show I watched.
A presenter/Reporter got to take a flight in a jet fighter and the pilot was giving him a safety briefing at the aircraft.

The pilot points to the ejection handle and says that it is hands off at all times unless we have to eject in an emergency. The command to eject is EJECT, EJECT, EJECT, except you will only hear EJE cause I'll be GONE !!!

Oh man, that bites.
Been there, done that. I lost one in a tree once. It was clear up in the upper branches of a cottonwood. Terrible trees for climbing.
After a few days, the wind finally blew it down.
But by then, the airframe was shot, as were the electronics.
Even the motor had damage. To much time in the weather, and it had rust pits on the bearings.
Not meaning to sound discouraging, but it almost wasn't worth rescuing.

I've used that method Melnic, it does work pretty good at getting it down but usually rips the plane in half but at least you get the electronics back. Another method I've used was 2" diameter 10 ft long PVC piping. You can put three together to get 30' and poke it out---- it's very flexible so it's a handful

HAHAHA,
It's about 100' up.
I'd like to just get the electronics back. Lipo is probably toast if not seriously degraded after a night of discharging. The other aspect is the shame of comming in every morning seeing it up there. At my flying field there are power lines off to the right about 2000ft. They are closer than they look and it's been hit multiple times. One guy got his trainer stuck up there hanging by the muffler. Was up there for MONTHS and it would slide back and forth in the wind. You could see it from the highway. Every time someone asked about it, the guy dropped his head in shame... Till one day in a wind storm it finally fell down.

I've got all kinda stuff to try and get it down during lunch today. I'd like to at least salvage the Esky Rx as well as the servos, motor and ESC. I'm sure the Lipo has fully discharged.

Ive landed a lot in the trees and have always got them down luckly! Flew a glider one day and the winds aloft took it up and away and I panic'd and landed it several hundred yards away next to a highway and a car stopped and stole it. bummed me out bigtime.

Well, could not get her down during lunch and I can't stay after work for long enough to try again before the rain hits.

Shot arrows up into the trees with fishing line and then pulled up stronger line. Shook and shook and would not fall. It was windy and could not get the branch I wanted.

Oh well. At least it's not one of my helis stuck up there
I had been flying the EDF off the back parking lot cause it can't take off of grass. I'll have to get a hand launch EDF to replace it so I can fly it at the field.

Sorry you didn't get it. Maybe tomorrow you could try again. The only way I got the bow and arrow trick to work was to get a lucky shot directly over the plane and a guy on either end pulling down on the line, basically ripping the plane in half. One Sunday I spent 6 hours and finally got it, you may not get it if your time is limited.

The Bow is my Kid's so it's barely got enough pull to it to get the arrow up there. The wind kept taking it. I'm almost inclined to go over to Basspro to get myself a bigger Bow. I've wanted one anyway.

The perfect angle to shoot from is the side but that's where the trees are.

I'll have to try again either tomorrow or next week.

Keep at it Melnic, you'll eventually get it down.
You might consider a stronger bow, and getting an arrow "through" it with a string attached. At least you'd get the vital components back.

Ive used a 30 cal. remington sniper rifle and shot off the branches.
Remember, if shot at a 45 degree angle that bullet will come down miles from you and can kill someone if it hits them in the head.
We had a young girl killed when a 30 cal bullet entered her skull near the top, estimated it came from a hunting area 3 miles away. She was walking with her mom in a small town near the hunting area.
Please don't try it.
If shot straight up, then it will tumble coming down and won't be lethal, just hurt like hell.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?
