I thought the takeoff sucked worse one I have seen in a long time. And when was the low pass? I never did fly a 450 that high to start with too small hard to see.

I learned Ornery from the DougsRC Institute of Ornery.

Tryan how did the takeoff suck??

Was it because it drifteed at takeoff?? if it was i didnt real care about how i take of when i just fly around. but i can get it to come straight up and keep it very prosice.(for the likes of me i can not spell it)

Just getting you fired up and it worked!!!!

You posted twice before I could reply. HAHAHA

But seriously yeah your a stickbanger!!! I see that kind of stuff even from the good pilots though. I see them at GPE-Fest in champaign IL you think your flying good spence drive over and see the heli smackdown it can humble the best pilots. You will enjoy it and vendors? man you would walk out with a dozen helis!!!

As for your flying I dont like your style you make a heli look like a pissed off mosquito.

For me there is nothing sweeter than watching a heli slowly lift off (toolman pirouette) then a smooth scale flight just fast banking turns or even a little 3D same take off (toolman piro)then bam into a routine of maneuvers where everything is perfect smooth transition from one maneuver to the next and perfect placement of the heli always where they put it.

Now thats worth watching but takes way to much practice.

even when i do the turns it sounds like P'D off mosquito. Why does it do that on turns? is it it just cutting the air or what?

Not the sound thats blade flex even stiffer dampeners cant totally get rid of it.

Your heli goes through the sky like a pi$$ed off mosquito. altitude always changing loosing altitude in turns stuff like that. erratic flight a real heli doesnt have the power to do that thats why they fly so smooth underpowered and over pitched. But good pilots can fly 3D that looks like scale flight.

Hard to explain but when you see it you know it.

you think while flying like a POD mosquito could end up brakeing blades in flight?? i am useing wood blades. i am saveing up for some carbon fiber blades right now so i can go crazy with inverted. But tryan you have seen my smooth flying. The video of flying indoors. That was smooth.

I'm not all that tense, I just think that I should be able to make a stable hover. I am a little scared of it getting away from me in ff though. I just want to run over and throw a pillow under it.
Like it would help.

may be put it in a bubble.. the heli in a bubble, you can't break it. that would be good. I don't know how the younguns do this, I had no patience as a kid, and it's hard now as a grown man, but it is hard to work more than you fly no doubt. You have to love it. Maybe that is why it's 1 out of 10 that stick with it.

Guys... What you missed here is that I CAN do slow forward flight, and low & slow enough to scare the grasshoppers. What I need to work on with it is precision. I'm working to get my slow stuff & hovers more accurate, and hold them better. My hovers still drift around way to much, and I'm still having trouble doing spot landings.

But hey, it's just what I've decided to work on right now.

hedgehog:
Relax & stay with it. It took me forever to get FF down.
Coming from a fixed wing background, the coordination took me the longest time to get. The tail on a heli doesn't follow, and if you get it wrong in a turn, it will quickly fall from the sky (literally!).

Fixed wings "want" to fly, helis are forced into it. lol

I have decided though, that I don't like 450's... at all.
I can see my next heli being either a 600, or a 30 size nitro (Rappy 30?). I far prefer how they fly over a 450.

for me a 500 isnt really a consideration when the 600's are flying mild sport on 6S batteries.

with ya 100% have a HK250 its a PIA to hold on to but I wanted an indoor heli. I would much rather be flying my R30 soon to be R50.

Well I'm getting a 500 when the irs comes through for me, along with some fresh batts 4 it, and a decent charger. And a motor, and blades for the king 3. I was gonna get batteries from hobby king and buy sets of 3s and use an adapter to make them 6s so I could use them in the king also if I wanted to, but I'm not sure that is a good plan. It's funny though last year I thought I was spending alot when I bought the king, if I only knew.....

man guys have been doing 3d on wood blades for years.the response will not be the same as carbon but you can still do any move in the book
i am saveing up for some carbon fiber blades right now so i can go crazy with inverted
exactly what do you think you will be able to do with CF blades that you cant do with wood?inverted hovering puts no more strain on a heli than upright hovering,I dont understand your thinking here, how are wood blades holding you back at this point in your flying?more batteries will improve your flying MUCH more than CF blades right now,I can guarantee that

right now any of your helis can handle any move you can do now,you cant upgrade your way to 3d,theres only 1 way....STICK TIME

i scared to push it to much and make the blades snap in the air. like puting strain on them to much and with them flexing they will snap. Ive heard of it happening before.

Or is it just like the stupid conspericy of 2012??

dude this is not meant as a dig at all, just being honest here, but you are not flying ANYWHERE near hard enough(NOBODY on the e-sky forum is,myself included) to snap blades in the air,you aren't even really doing any moves that are straining the heli.if you were doing fast tic tocs,or death spirals, rainbows, stuff like that, high stress manuvers.MAYBE,if the blade had a crack in it or a flaw.but for what you are doing, which is not even aggressive sport flying at this point, wood blades are just fine.
