Hi Dr Ben/Dominik,

Do you need to ground the boom/tail pulley's on the D3 Ex(since it's carbon) and the Eagle 3? i'm about to test to see if the Hirobo belt generates static, but thought i'd check with the guru's first

I'm building my D3 EX at the moment so I thought i'd check. I don't have a problem with my normal D3.

Nope, at least not with Futaba FAAST. I've been flying my E3 w/ carbon boom for months ungrounded. Flawless radio performance.

I have never heard of static build up on any carbon Hirobo's.

Brendan,

Try not to rust all the bolts on that new model from drooling all over it <g>.

Brendan , you will love the D3 Ex. Its a work of art. Its supposed to have all the upgrades a D3 has, but I found out it still missing some things to be an exact replica of Dom's bird. It's pretty close though. I went ahead and bought the parts that were missing since I am kinda of anal. Now I think I have gotten the E-power bug from reading the Freya e-power thread. My E3 electric is in the works. I will have to tap Dr. Ben's infinite wisdom for tips.

Hi Gottfried, the only two things there that I could see that I don't have are the flywheel and the carbon skid pipes(I could never figure out where to get them?). I've got the metal washout arms and everything else, looks like a nice machine!

Gottfried, be careful with the non-pump version of the HZ with the stock shroud. Sneak up on the final needle valve setting very carefully. For a $5000 helicopter I would suggest the pump HZ.

Gottfried, also, the fuel tank restraint is for the pressure of the YS. You don't need it for the OS, saving a few more grams.

Hi,

@Brendan

I dont't have carbon skid pipes. I use the skid pipes (black) with Hirobo part number: 0402-535

I think carbon skid pipes are fragile.

@ John Benario

I use the OS 91 HZ for the first flights (check flight) and after the check flights switch to YS 91 SR (already acquired).

Regards,
Gottfried

WOW! That is very nice. I like the open area design around the engine. I take it they use a plastic main gear instead of delrin like the others? Gorgeous machine.
