I think I did. Actually I raced Hair Scrambles. I just say MX because people that have never raced usually don't know what a scramble is. I used to race the FTR circuit and some of our tracks did link up the trail with a MX track. Gatorback being the most memorable. Pretty cool to ride on what used to be a National MX track. That was a blast. For some reason I never really got into jumping stuff. I do love railing a nice trail though. Those trees hurt!!
Actually the coolest track was Ocala. Had a really cool MX track (they used to hold qualifiers there) that had one of the toughest 7-8 mile woods loops you'll find in the southeast. Old mining pit. HUGE dropoffs and really steep uphills. They had one jump (well actually you jumped INTO it) that was called Gravity Cavity. Saw a lot of guys take the ambulance ride from that jump.
I sure do miss it though. My best friend still races and nags me constantly to go again. Still have my bike, only thing really stopping me is the cash and I won't race with out health insurance, which I don't have at the present. I still have racing dreams. And the people are great. Amazingly enough, with us losing so much riding area (ALL of it is gone here in the Cape), FTR is twice as big as it was a few years ago. I guess it's the only way a lot of people get to ride with the shortage of land and all.

Oh Really!
Supercross is on at the moment so I'll be watching that and I'll send you a PM afterwards, BTW, Hardrock was one of our favorite local tracks to where I live now.

yep, only track I ever rode that developed a blue groove in the dirt, on the rack and in the woods. Ground is so hard there. Going down there HURTS!! Ever rode the trails out back???
I used to really like our track at Reddick too, just up the road from Hard Rock.

If it wasn't for AMA alowing 250 2-strokes to run with 250 4-strokes (amatuer) you probably wouldnt be able to get any 250 2-strokes anymore either. For all I know that "new" rule may have already changed anyway.
Not sure of the rule, but they mixed here at the local races this year.Tommy Hoffmaster is from here and he whips everybody on a 250-2 stroke in the 450 class.I had a clinic with local SX pro Brian White, and he asked to ride my old 2005 KX 250.You would have thought it was the worlds fastest bike watching him ride it.

It really is amazing how fast a pro can go on a bike. We had a close friend just up the road with a private track that my boys practiced on, we would get couple visits a year from Troy Adams and it was amazing to watch him ride. We were at the local Dade City track one Sat when JBS showed up just to ride the sand section out back, absolutely phenomenal the speed that guy carries.

most people have no clue. I've ridden scrambles on a practice lap with ex-factory MX and woods guys, the difference even between a local pro and the national guys is absolutely astounding. It defies description when you're on the same piece of dirt. You think you're hauling the mail then these guys go around you like you're a 5 year old on a PW 50.
I've never been so humbled in my whole life. They're on another level. Watching them is one thing, to have them passing you on one wheel, going around a corner between trees and never letting off the gas....priceless.
Kinda like flying next to CY.....

No Doubt!
Speaking of local fast guys, Do you know Travis Hulfish? He was big into the HS thing and also REAL fast on an MX track. He was very active 4 years ago.
