So let me get this right, there no trimming the heli all you have to set is the gain on the system?

Doesn't appear to be a patch on the Mikado system. There is limited functionality and I prefer to be able to see everything on my Laptop screen.

Nice head though. Will definitely swap out my stock head (with Mikado conversion) for one of these

3D?? No - just another input error!!!

OK there's some discrepancies here.

Bert says it flies VERY different to a flybar & you may find it difficult to adapt.

Elsewhere I have read that it flies JUST LIKE a flybar, but much more precise, & pilot will find the transition uneventful.

Mine is installed but I haven't flown it yet.
2 of my cyclic servos have decided to play up since the install.
1 completely dead & one with very bad random twitching.
These servos flew perfectly fine (flybarred) on Saturday. Coincidence??

Great Video Bert, Wow I can't wait to get one but I I don't think this is it. You still have to set up the gyro and the gov.

I decided to switch to FBL last year. I did a lot of research and read varying stories such as what a nightmare they were to set up, how I'd never be able to fly a flybar heli again, how they would detract from my flying skills but at the same time improve my actual flying

To cut a long story sideways, I personally went for the vBar 4 and it was magnificent. I stood in the field for the maiden FBL flight with more nerves than my first ever flight. However, my 700 lifted off and flew like a patternship. I've never looked back.

I converted my 50 a couple of weeks later but have left my 450's with Flybars.

There is a difference when flying FBL but it's neither better nor worse - just different

For those of you who choose to switch this year, enjoy and good luck. Just remember you get what you pay for. A single mid air avionics failure could cost you more in repairs than the difference in price of certain systems

If you upgrade to QUK links your worries will go away with or without FBL.

I'll never understand why Align don't put decent quality screws, bolts and links in their kits a charge a few quid more

OK.. have the system ready to install, reading the instructions. It is somewhat unclear on how exactly you are supposed to set up the servo mixing to ensure a perfectly square swash. Normally i would disable CCPM in the TX, calibrate my radio to VBAR to assure 100% travel in all throws (via ATV), then use VBAR software to add a small amount of trim to get the servos exactly at 90deg, adjust the links to the swash to get the swash 100% level at mid stick, then again use vbar trims to ensure that at max / min pitch the swash remains 100% level. With the align system there are no trims, do i assume you instead use a small amount of sub-trim in the TX to get everything at 90 for mid stick, then use the swash mixers in 14mz to ensure @ max/min swash is level? (similar to how you would do it with a flybar setup) -> or do you leave that alone and assume the system will 'do what it needs to do' to keep things level at min/max pitch?

the manual is not clear on this.. thoughts?

i am curious to set this up to be do a direct comparison on how it performs compared to vbar 4.0....

Very nice video and flying. I have just bought the 700 LE and a G3 head for it.

One question that is appearing on the posts and is a concern of mine is with the Align 2in1 voltage regulator. Are you running the Align unit in your helicopters and especially are you running it in the 3G helis?

Thanks

I just set up my Align 3G in the 700 N, took just over the hour flew off the board with stock settings, just reset the pitch and gain values to 'Nimble'(more pitch and cyclic)
and its really good.
I'm still tweeking the tail settings to get the right feel but 7 flights and no drama.
Surprised myself but it was really easy
