Today I switched back to the 401 gyro just to see if I would notice any difference compared to the Helicommand internal tail gyro.

For this type of flying there is no noticable difference at all, the Helicommand is just as smooth.

I am going to switch back to Helicommand internal gyro for sure, keeping things simple and light....

Thanks Jesper, I think I will switch back to the Helicommand tail gyro once I get a BEC that can handle more current as well!

I ended up getting an Align rce-b6x 6A regulator with the hope that it would solve my tail problem. I tested it out today with Helicommand's tail gyro but have the same oscillation problem as before in HH mode. When I emailed Joachim at Helicommand about the problem he suggested switching the Align regulator from "controller" to "regulator" mode, however I can't find any information on how to do this Does anyone know what this means? I am completely stumped by this problem now, the only thing I can think of is the possibility of a problem with the tail servo...the regulator has a 5.8v output and I am powering everything off this voltage except I have the 5.1v step down regulator connected to my 9253 tail servo. According to the specs for this servo its rated for 4.8v, could powering it with 5.1v be a problem? The same step down regulator was used for this servo when I was using my 401 though so this seems unlikely. Any more ideas?

Thanks

Well I spent quite a bit of time (not as much as you though Dan)trying to get the internal tail gyro to work, having pretty much the same problems as you. Went to an external gyro and it's SO much better. Stands to reason tht it would be better than the little piezo job in the HC, I don't intend to waste any more time trying to get that to work.

Gary,

I agree that an external gyro is probably far superior to HC's internal gyro, but it seems enough people on here have been using HC's internal gyro without a problem and I would really like to be able to use the autotrim feature without upgrading my radio system. Standard rate mode is working fine right now, and for the time being I think I will just stick with the internal gyro since I am finding it easier to shoot smooth video in standard rate mode than in HH anyway.

Thanks

Dan

Dx7 & Helicommand
Guys, I'm still a newbie on HC Rigid but my 450 is very solid on the internal HC gryo and levels instantly even when flying hard and in wind gusts.

In the Input Select window on the DX7, I have Aux2 - F.Mod. and Gear – Gyro

In HC software I'm at 20 gain (on top of the 25 that's already built into the unit)

The only issue I'm really having now is auto trim function over on another site "Can anyone on planet earth help me with HC setup"

It's a journey on these HC's for sure!
