Picked up the set for my TRex 500 yesterday. Went through the manual for setup and it went very quick. The only issues I had were having to readjust the 2 forward swash-servo links to get the plate level, and not being able to use the replacement swash balls that were included because they had the wrong thread (2mm on the swash vs 3mm on the balls.) A small adjustment to the swash-grip links and everything was good. Can't wait to give it a try today. I think Align has done well with this system. Easy setup, easy field adjustments, typical good component fit and finish.

No you don't have to use their horns, just make sure the link ball distance are as stated in the manual.
I see now why they put in different horns. The spacing is very different (about 30 mm for flybar vs 24.4 mm for FBL). I'm assuming that they needed to decrease throws. The better question now is why? Would it make that much difference? I have to find some new horns now and redo the spacing. Also, with the new spacing the two links from the servo will not be parallel now. Oh well, raining and windy again today.

The Flybar setup, because it involves extra links etc has to move more.
Flybarless is a lot more direct hence less movement to get the same result.
Thats what we found on other units, it still flew with the larger spacing

With the links not parallel there is the potential for binding. In the real world it must not be that much or they wouldn't have it set up that way. I haven't put it together yet to test it.

I was flying mine this morning. I really like it but I do have a problem when I tried to do tic tocs. The heli goes crazy. I dont know if its a tail problem. I will try to post a video later so you guys can help me out. Regarding the servos, I didnt have to use subtrims.

What an easy setup!!!
Hooked it up and ran thru the settings to get familiar with the steps just to see how it goes.
Im still toying with the idea of using my 30mm spaced Align horns until they get the correct ones.
Flew the Skookum with it that way and my homemade head setup and it was just fine.

Faulty 3g
Well this sux......attempted to lift off into a hover and was just about off the deck when wham heli went into full negative? no pitch control but had cyclic movement, then the system went into reset mode with a few pumps on the swash.
Checked battery went through setup again double and tripple checked setup.
Tried to hover again then bam down and over she goes.....
well after investigation turns out the sensor cable is bad on one connector, i could wiggle the plug and the unit would go nuts!!!
crap, new blades etc......

I do have a little video of the system going nuts, pm me and i will email you the file.

Hope Align will step up and help out here..

We had a chance to fly it this weekend. I have to say that the install was painless as was the setup.
I got a little confused on the gyro set up but I'm sure that was more me than anything.
I like the "less is more" interface...espeicailly if it works.
The unit did a nice job. It took about 7-10 flights to get used to it. Nothing too difficult. Just a little different.
Here is a video of flight #6.

HERE IS YOUR PROBLEM ALIGN
Look at the pics you can clearly see the black wire's crimp is not fully closed thus making an poor connection to the male pin that slots inside. This my friends is why i have a $300 repair bill...
Nice...
hoping align is going to say something?

Cripped connection area alittle and all is well, just have to rebuild heli

This is why i buy from Esprit Model
Now this is customer service......

Called Mike at Esprit Model in Florida and explained all what has happened with the Align 3G unit.

Within the hour of the original phone call Mike had a new unit out the door and on its way to me to replace the faulty unit.

I will be much more comfortable flying a new unit rather than one that has had problems.

This sort of service will keep me going back to buy from his store.

Thanks Mike!
