hi, im in the middle of rebuilding a champion and just got done installing new head damper o-rings. i notice that once together the head feels loose when compared to other helis i have built(raptor and some 450's). although all my other helis are from the newer era... the o-rings just feel as though they are of a low durometer #. is that normal for this heli? i wont be doing any type of 3d maybe a flip or loop but just want to make sure the head is ok, dont want a boom strike or any woofing like when the dampers start to loosen on a raptor.

What blades are you going to run? The stock orings were tight but not as tight as we run the heads today.

Thats pretty normal. I fool around alot with older heli's and you have to be careful comparing them to todays machines. Even my older X-cell gasser, vintage 97, everything feels sloppy as compared to my Knight3d or even my 450's. But the old gasser still flies wonderful and will do whatever you ask, well almost.

i was thinking of running the stock wood blades or maybe a newer set of wood blades. will i have to worry about boom strike or anything like that if i decide to really throw it around?

Anyone know if there are any o-rings available today that will fit the Champion? Maybe those used on X-Cell?

They were standard size O-rings.

The head on my Champion that I recently rebuilt was so tight that I was actually concerned about it. There is very little noticable movement in the head when I try to tilt the blade grips -- but it flies great!

I'll take a quick video if that helps...

O-Rings, Schluter Part #3506, are 13mm OD and 3mm thick.

Do you have the spacer washers installed? Schluter part #S1585 are 0.50mm thick, 12.65mm OD and 8.00mm ID.

(as close as I can measure)

i do have the spacers installed. i replaced the original o-rings with the correct ones from heli-proz but still there is movement in the dampers. not in and out but the up and down kind when grabbing the blade grips and tilting them.
also what would be a good head speed to run on this heli and can i set idle ups just like i would on my raptors to get some performance out of it.
