Are there any differences between the two other than the black paint on the metal head and tail pieces? I've got my 250 flying fairly well, but notice a little slop in some of the head linkages and wonder if the accuracy in flight I'm looking for can only be obtained by a tighter machine. Is the 250 S.E. a better machine than the plain 250?

Yes, there are many differences on the SE. Unfortunately, being slop-free is not one of them.

The upper mixing arms seem to be tighter but the lower mixing arms are terrible on the SE. The radius arms are attached using brass bushings which are are incredibly sloppy, allowing the radius arms to rock quite a bit. In this regard, I think the original 250 was better and I am considering replacing my lower mixing arms and radius arms with the original design parts.
