Setup
Trex 500 ESP with all stock electronics
Radio: 10CHG
Gyro: GY520
Receiver: R6106HFC

I had some radio setting I wanted to talk about for my initial setup and they are...

Set the Swash setting to HR3 and set the servo reverse as needed to allow the swash plate to move as it should with the stick movement. I move the right stick forward and the swash tilts forward, left stick cause it tilt left and so on...

I haven't made any changes to the throttle curve or pitch curve, what do you suggest?

For now I only plan to fly in one mode (no Idle Up conditions) and in AVCS mode. I do a lot of hovering and a little forward flight.

Radio Gyro Setting: Mix = ACT, Mode = GY, SW = E all three rates are set to AVC 50%.

I didn't want the position of the switch to impact my goal of one mode and heading lock AVCS mode.

Revo Mix is disabled

Throttle hold is on switch G and POSI = 0%, I use this ensure a bump to the stick wont start the motor.

I"m trying to set two of the 3 knobs on the front of the radio to adjust hover pitch and hover throttle. The current settings for HOV-THR are:
Mix = ON, Rate = o% (0%), VR = +VrA, Mode = Norm

HOV-PIT are:
Mix = ON, Rate = 0% (0%), VR = +VrC, Mode = Norm

How I'm testing this right now is having the heli in Throttle hold and moving the stick to 50% and then checking to see the change in pitch in this case with a change in the and right now it doesn't change. What do you suggest?

Thank you, I don't see a point in the side sliders for helis either as a matter of preference. I like the knobs on the front to fine tune the pitch

I would still disable for setup because they can throw off you 90deg and sub trims servos. I here is my setup

TC 7point normal
7 100 100
6 80.5 75.0
5 71.0 62.5
4 59.5 50
3 46.0 37.5
2 32.5 25.0
1 0 0

PC 7point normal
7 100 100
6 66 75
5 36 62.5
4 9 50
3 -8 37.5
2 -22 25.0
1 -34 0

TC 2 point IDLE1
7 95 100
1 95 0

PC 7 IDLE 1
just symectic

TC 2 point IDLE2
7 98 100
1 98 100

PC 7 IDLE 2 (secrete stuff =P for 3d especialy for tic-tacs on all hellies)
7 100 100
6 57 75
5 30 62.5
4 0 50
3 -30 37.5
2 -57 25.0
1 -100 0

This creates negative expo on pitch, giving you more pitch around the mid stick, kind like the vr knobs and slider do for hover. I would love it if the Slider would work in Idle modes.

Your gain is way too high 50 HH on gy 520 is nutts i would not go passed 35 i have the following

MIX>ACTIVE MODE>GY SW>Cond.
Normal> AVC 31
IDL1 > AVC 28
IDL2 > AVC 27
IDL3 > AVC 27
HOLD > 28

my swash is
ALIE -66
ELEV +66
PITCH 40

I've set my pitch and throttle curve to match yours and I turned down the gain on my gyro to 31. I'm currently not using IDLE or Hold mode, all of them are set to INH. I made the Gyro change in Gyro Sense only.

I have a question, I'm do some first time ground run up's and the heli will just start dancing from left skid to the right skid, any words of wisdom here?

Are you ruining 5S or 6S?
What pinion ?
What head dampeners are you using?

To low HS will cause violent head shaking on the 500.

I'm using 12T 6S with black head dampeners I you are using 5S i would use 14T and gray head dampeners.

Battery is 6s 2650 Turnigy
Motor is stock 500ESP motor
Pinon is stock 13t
Dampener is stock gray

I just pulled the flybar shaft out and made sure it was lubed, I re lubed it just for fun. I also changed my curves at noted above and did another ground run up. The wobbles/shakes are 99% gone.

maybe you can help with this next question as well, I want to set the EXP to -30% as I have seen suggested.

Basic Mode>D/R,EXP>

Then it shows ch 1,2,4 and I set all three to -30% in the EXP section only.

It looks like the EXP is tied to a switch either D,A, or B by default. I'd like to remove idiot error and have it set no switch so it cant be accidentally bumped so I set mine to SW>Cond and the No. field states NORM. To the best of my knowledge I have this transmitter forced to only fly in NORM mode. I didn't enable the other conditions.

If you did not enable any other conditions then your fine. You can easily test, by cyclic thru your modes an see if the EXP graph changes and or values. BTW you have to set your SW to Cond on all channels.
