Won't increase the chance of a boom strike, but when you do, it will distroy more parts, and more expensive parts. The only significant advantage to torque tube drive is slightly increased performance in autorotations.

I used to fly TT helis exclusively, and thought that belts were too much trouble, and too much drag. Then I started flying belt drive helis, and I won't go back. I wouldn't change to a belt if it was the same cost.

The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

Sounds like you don't have your boom locks tight enough. If your belt is loosening try scuffing the end a bit with sandpaper before reinserting. Then tighten the clamp bolts tight. Don't crush the boom or break the clamp, but crank it tight. I have not adjusted my belt once on either Frenzy 50 since original assy. With the winter here I am running a slightly sloppy belt, but nothing to stop flying about and certainly no slipping.

I forgot to mention that I gently scuff the clamps too. Hope this helps you.
I have friends that use hose clamps on the boom up against clamps to hold tension and others that put a thin tape or two sided adhesive tape on the boom where it inserts into the clamps. It takes care of bad tolerance issues, but it's a bear to adjust once it is set. Hmm, maybe you tube to clamp tolerance is loose?

Anyway, Im trying to offer you some ideas. You probably already checked these but just in case ...

I had boom slippage on my MA Tempest. It's a carbon fiber boom.
I asked Ray Stacy if there is a remedy for it. He said, use a thin emery cloth and that should stop any slippage.
I also use carbon booms on my FBL 50 and the OD is 3/4". The stock boom is 7/8" OD. I wrap & CA 150 grit sandpaper around the boom to shim the 3/4" OD to fit the tail case, boom clamp, and frame clamp areas. It works most excellent.

I have queried JS directly. They say they have the goods. AMain says JS is the delay. From Chinese friends in China they contacted JS for me. JS says they have 2 US distributors. One in California and one in Florida. I personally think both stink as distributors and marketers. AMain did the best, the other company is a no show. Regardless, something smells around the TZ-90 situation. How can South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia get -90 kits and not the US? Sound to me like AMain has/is the culprit here. I think they do a great job supporting product they sell and they have a great web site, but this whole situation makes me uneasy about their ability to support JS. I'm wondering if the other brands they sell are complaining that JS is undercutting their business. Goodness knows that virtually all heli mfg's have lowered prices since JS hit the market. Frankly I don't know how Minature, Bergen, JR and Hirobo stay in business with their prices. Align and Thunder Tiger are the only ones reasonably priced next to JS. Outrage and a few other smaller companies are there, but I frankly don't see them surviving in this economy. JS has been around 13 years and they have other machining business to support their shop.
