Debating on keeping my GY401/9254 and using it on my spectra. Will this be strong enough for sport flying and very light 3D? If not, what do you guys suggest?

Thanks,
Sean

Sure, a 401 works fine for basic flying on a Spectra. I did the first few test flights on mine with a 401. If you have the extra cash, the Solid G was by far the best gyro I ever used on and gasser. That thing didn't even kick when the engine was rich and breaking in.

I`m using a JR770 3D and JRDS8900G on mine.
Used some zeal tape as well and all is perfect.

+1 - I have this combo on the Radikal and I like it a lot more than the Logictech 6100 setup on my Spectra.

Some obsolete nitro helis too...

The 601 has better piro consistency, independent left/right limit and just feels better to me. If I were buying new today I'd probably get another Futaba 520. That's what I have on my 700 and it's a great gyro and takes less room than the sensor of my 601. I really don't like having the boxes for the GV1 or 601 on my Predator. A number of guys here have the Solid-G and mini-G also and all like them.

yes I would have to agree with ya there, I have the 520 on a bird or two, really easy to set up, takes up no, no room at all. The amp is space consuming, bullet proof

Has anyone run the GY520 on a gasser? Just curious how it handles the vibes.

Thanks,
Sean

520/bls251 works great even on a rich engine.

Thanks

I`ve heard of quite a few s9254`s failing on gassers . I used a Hitec HS-6965HB on my gasser with good results...

GY520 works well in my Spectra-G. Just make sure it's mounted with zeal tape.

520/6965 is what I'm currently running on my 700 - I get long tail slides with it and it hold well.

Don't mistake what works on a nitro for what will work on a gasser, some will but others may not, I had a CSM SL720 on my Spectra as a lot of people use them on 90 size nitro's. I could not stop the tail drifting for love nor money.
I've yet to put it up in the air again but I've now gone to the 770/8900 combo. I've got the same set up my nitro's and others such as Malc1 are happy with it on their gassers so I'm in.

Gyro choice
I had problems with the 9254 on a gasser, dont think they like the vibes.I have also found the 770/8900 to be a great combo on my Millenium gasser.401,s and csm are fitted to the others without problems so far.Trying to minimize the vibes helps a lot.Must point out that i do not fly 3D.(cannot more like)
