I thought the video was kinda funny! I don't think it was in bad taste at all, its competition people, why are you going to get upset about a commercial. People are too sensitive these days. Relax, every company out there needs a little poking every now and then. Guess I must be a Futaba owner. YEP!

When u don't feel like soaring through the air with a plane, beat it into submission w/ a heli!

That was hilarious, and yes I am a Futaba! Like Ray said, 12Z baby.

Now is this where I say that the DX7 feels like a toy? Seems like a popular dig around these parts.*

*Pretty sure any decent radio is more than most pilots need but saying that isn't as much fun in these threads.

The next request the JR/spect dork end users will come up with is 'Idle Up Match', that way they don't even have to figure out if they are idled up or not before they invert.

Did I wipe my butt? I dunno let me turn on my TX and put it back there for a reading.

P.S. I like to laugh at both PC's and MAC's because at the end of the day all you are doing is.... end using. Wohoo pick up your fake nobel science award at the door. Used pretty much every OS in the last 15 or so years, they all have a bathroom, kitchen, back yard, etc etc. Kinda like a Colonial vs Victorian home. Still gotta have a kitchen in both.

Exactly. It's not like JR/Spektrum cant come out with a counter commercial (sheesh what, you need 100 bucks for materials, 'talent' looks like it's free) showing a potential Darwin Award Winner (yes including crash helmet) failing to check his model on the TX and the model in his Hand. We watch it blow up, we laugh again!

We all win!

There actually are significant differences between how well some brands of radio gear do the 'job' compared to others -- fact is, the vast majority of users will never need to use their radios to anywhere near their fullest capabilities.

A skillful build solves most range issues with most radio brands, but more at stake for advanced pilots is how good a 'job' their radios do at programming out swash servo interactions and allowing switch function assignability, etc.

I personally like being able to mount satellite receivers out on the ends of the wings of my airplanes away from the spark ignition sources. Nothing wrong with that technology.

It should be noted that JR/Spektrum has receivers with full wave antennas just like the Futaba receivers seen in the video, but they are marketed for the CF fuse crowd--not for general use.

The fact is, despite whatever claims Futaba may have in robotics or industry, when it comes to 2.4GHz RC, JR/Spektrum has a 2 year head start. They have 10x as many varieties of 2.4GHz receivers as Futaba, and the price of the JR/Spektrum receivers is considerably less than Futaba.

That says nothing about the exceptional customer service you get from Horizon Hobbies.

Futaba radios do have better programming than JR/Spektrum. Got to hand it to them on that one.

What I would like to see is a commercial with the guy asking why Futaba still refuses to offer the high end radios with dedicated 2.4GHz antennas. Those poor Futaba folks flying the 12z and 14z radios that have the funny little antenna hanging off the back with the big 72MHz antenna ball with the hole in it right up top. At least Futaba could provide a rubber plug for the hole to make it look a little less ugly on their flagship TXs.

Touche. I passed on the 12Z for this very reason.

People will say "it doesn't matter." But it does to me, and I know I'm not the only one who it matters for. And if it matters to many, it should matter to Futaba.

That said, they got it right with all the newer transmitters (7C, 8FG, 10C)

Well, I guess that Futaba is so far down in sales to the JR/Specktrum line that they felt they needed a answer of some kind to get sales back up. Hope it works for them, I switched to JR!!

Quick...here comes my wife....hide that new Heli !!!!

As predicted, it is very easy to tell who flies what just by reading their post. Me included! I think we would have a better chance talking about someone's wife.

I personally like not having to rely on that but to each his own I guess.

No kidding there. Way overkill in my opinion. The comment about receiver cost is bogus. If you can find an apples to apples comparison, they are either equal or within 15%. That doesn't qualify for "JR/Spektrum receivers is considerably less than Futaba"
That says nothing about the exceptional customer service you get from Horizon Hobbies.
Agreed that it is nice but they have to. It was the only way to stay in business with all of the crashes due to brownouts and stuff. Futaba doesn't need to give away the house.

They heard you and they did it! Actually they did it way back when they released the 2.4 option.

I think most guys here have missed the point of the thread.
I don't think the OP was commenting on anything other than the flat out plagiarism by Futaba.

The commercial is an almost exact copy of an already popular commercial.

The competition between JR and Spektrum is the same as between Mt Dew and Pepsi.
Uh not really Mckrackin. PepsiCo manufactures Mountain Dew.

Wow a Futaba, JR/Spektrum controversy, how novel. I guess boys will be boys when it comes to their favorite toys.

I thought the add was a hoot, yep I love my Futaba.

How come the Airtronics, Hitec guys don't play this silly game? Look at all the fun they're missing out on

I'm actually much more curious about another major issue. What's with all the guys who use apostrophees everywhere, and spell loose when they mean lose? Now there's a TOPIC!
