Im new to EDF jets but ive read that reducing the exhaust diameter will give you more speed and draw more amps, is that correct?

only to a certain extent, you will lose static thrust so take off roll will be longer, or if hand launched, can be exciting at times. check the edf forum at rcgroups. there is a ton of info there.
