I assume some of the OS37's increase in fuel consumption over the OS32 has to do with volume of the cylinder space. Also, there is more mass moving around in there: bigger piston, rod, bearings, so that will take additional gas.

An OS32's carb might slow down things, but not sure. There's still the volume/mass to deal with.

I had a hawkpro with a 32 engine and it got great flight times but would go tru a glow plug about every gallon it seemed. Any ideas about that?
Only two things will cause that.

1 - (Most common) running too lean (also indicated by the extra long flights you where getting).

2 - Your rear bearing starting to come apart (but this would cause the plug to fail even sooner, like every couple of flights or so, even when you are rich.

Obviously you have your needles set better on your 50.

I noticed a considerable loss in flight time when I switched my os32 to a 37. Flight times were about 17min on the 32. Once I installed the 37 that dropped to about 11min. That being said, I did notice a substantial gain in power. I guess its whatever is most important to you flight time vs. power. Hope this helps.

OS seems to think I don't need the choice as they don't offer the OS 32 anymore. So it isn't really what is most important to me, because I have no choice.
