okay, so on both my my vision comps here, both have the tail kicking out a little to the right. hovers great, holds great, then after about 30-45 seconds, the tail kicks out to the right about 3-4" then stops and holds again.

have tried with gyros up front and the rear. different gain settings, ball link locations on the servo and control lever in the frame and nothing seems to help it. one gyro is a spartan 760, the other is the sjgd pg800 (same as the inertia 860). the only thing that i can think of now would be the tail belt is somehow causing it.

any ideas?

possible static discharge - I've seen it with a CF framed belt driven heli with a CF boom before (JR GSR). We (I am not the owner) solved it by spraying the belt with silicone spray lubricant. Could also try rubbing the belt with a dryer sheet. Best fix is to ground the CF boom to the CF frame.

Check another machine other than the Comp's. It may be a Transmitter problem. I cant see two seperate machines duplicating the same problem. Not to mention, I have never heard of this on this machine.

Let us know

The static discharge issue I experienced on that GSR was also on 2.4Ghz (DSM2 AR9000 RX). The problem manifested itself as a "jump" in cyclic. This GSR is equipped with an AP2000i stabilization unit which was being affected by the discharge. This really only showed up on cooler days with low humidity. Very exiting (in a bad way) when you have $10k+ heli and camera equipment hanging in the air.

I'm not saying this has anything to do with the tail issue on your Competition. There could be many other things going on that are more common such as a stretched spot in the belt, missing teeth, tail servo issue, electrical connection issue somewhere, frayed wire hitting the CF frame, ect.. I was just offering an alternative to the more common items that you have probably already checked. I'd be curious to here what it is once you track it down as I'm sure a bunch of other here would be.

Exactly the same
Hy guys!

How can this be possible?
I have exactly the same issue on my son's comp. here in Brazil. Oh Lord!
I don't know what am I gonna do else???
Already replaced: servo, gyro, push-rod, tail blades, gyro sens, etc.
It's really something similar to "missing teeth", but isn't.
The original Spartan 760 foam replaced (for several times) too and no answer back.

I perhaps have noticed a not common backlash between the main and tail rotors when holding them at the same time with our hands. This probably comes from the lower main shaft hole and its bolt (auto unit/tail driven).

A friend said that I must set my receiver (XPS 8Ch 2,4GHz - advanced menu) to work properly on 760us. Is it true?

Please, let me know.

PS. The tail grips and their bearings were reviewed for twice.

thats funny you say that because im running the xps 2.4g setup too with my jr 9303 and both my visions are doing it, but my 500 isnt converted with the xps rx yet.

it shouldnt matter though because the gyro is handeling the communication with the rudder servo, but i can call xps in the morning and talk to one of the guys there and see if there is any known issues although i wouldnt think there would be.

according to the xps manual, there is no way to change the framerate to 760us and thats what i thought, but ill still call them in the morning and find out.

okay, got the answer...

some gyros/electronics dont like the simultanious signal output that the xps has and the spartan 760 is apparently one of them. so the answer is to use a servo buffer on the channel that you have the remote gain plugged into.

I'm also using the XPS with JR9XII and Spartan but without problem. But what is a servo buffer? do you mean step down?

Thanks..

but what version firmware is your xps system? if its below 3.xx, the signal output is sequential so it wouldnt cause an issue and anything 3.xx and above, the signal output is simultanious.

Don't remember my version, but I think I have one of the very earlier version. Seems like there's issue with later version of XPS??

Great man, great!!
Dear Heliguy,

Thank U! You are all right!

AM Product updated my XPS modules on last october(new firmware version), but at the same time I had purchased The SPARTAN 760 Gyro as a gift to my son Igor. By the way, Igor replaced his old GY 601+9251 and he said: - " Houston, we have a problem...."

This morning, I kept in touch with AM Product (distributor for XPS in Brazil) and they will use XtremeLink device programmer(PC Link)to correct this once and for all.

Pictures included:
-Igor's Canopy
-XPS receiver on his Competition radio tray
-Igor and Danny Szabo

its not that its a problem with the xps system, its that some electronics in a sense are "stupid" that they dont like receiving data at the same exact time (ie. rudder channel and gain channel). futaba products have no issues with receiving the signals this way, but some of the newer stuff on the market does. spartan 760, tj pro are 2 of them to start.

the easy way to tell if your firmware is above or below the 3.xx by turning on your tx and rx and once connected, look at the led on the tx module. if the light is flickering fast red, then its 3.xx or above, if its not, then it is earlier firmware then the 3.xx.

anything 3.xx and above would have this issue, but again its not the firmware or xps issue, its the product being used in the sense that it doesnt like receiving the signals simulationously.

i have ordered a couple of the servo buffers and once they arrive and are tested, i will definately be giving a report back

okay, green is fine. what the flickering shows is that it is doing its "channel hopping" which was implemented in the 3.xx and above firmware.

i should have the servo buffers here in a couple days and will test and update with results
