If you fly both airplanes and helis, I think you'll be better off with the heli TX. If you try and do 3D on a planker radio, sometimes the ratched throttle is a PITA. I had to sand mine down to make it smooth.

I got the airplane version of the DX7. There was a plain bar included so I just replaced the curved bar on the throttle, tightened the tension screw to the feel I wanted, and never touched it since I got my DX7 almost 2 years ago.

Also the three position switch used for the flight mode is located on the upper left face of the airplane Tx. The position of the switch was not a problem for me.

I move the switches on my airplane model. I had to add a little extra length on one of the wires.

I fly both with the heli model. I find I like the smooth throttle better all the time for my planks. Funny watching guys who I let fly my planks they think there's something wrong with the radio.
