Anyone heard anything about JR going to 2.4v receivers? I read something about JR and other companies following Futaba on this. Here is the link where I read it.
http://www.carolinaskydancers.com/r...asstSystem.html

Scroll to the bottom of the page. It's under the title of "So What Now?"
Thanks.

I'm considering the purchase of a 12X and just don't want to have to re buy equipment.

JR is using the Spektrum technology that has been available from Spektrum for years now. They certainly are not following Futaba as the technology they are using has been available long before Futaba begin to offer 2.4ghz radios. BTW almost every radio manufacturer now makes 2.4 radios.

Gary, Actually Futaba used 2.4 on their industrial controls long before ANY of the RC manufacturers we are using started to present 2.4 to the masses.

You are correct that Spectrum (now partnered with JR) was the first to the RC hobby market with 2.4.

Just remember that all 2.4 transmission schemes are not the same and as we go further in time this may come back to bite some of the manufacturers.

Specktrum Receivers
Thanks guys for the responses. I am very familiar with the history of Futaba, Spektrum, and JR. I just didn't want to make my post too long. Anyway, to phrase it different, do you think Spektrum is going to go to 2.4v receivers or is the web site I saw this info on inaccurate? I'm so used to saying Jr, but you are correct, it is actually Spektrum.

I have a 12X and I am very happy with it. I don't know anything about 2.4 volt receivers, but the real problem with the 12X (if you want to call it a problem) is that the DX7se is twice as fast. If you fly planks, the 12X is great because it has lots of mixes. If you fly helis only, you might consider a DX7se.

Re 2.4v - I don't have any inside knowledge re JR but I would be suprised if they brought out RX's that rendered the entire JR back catalogue of servos and gyros obsolete?

Re 12X (11ms) - That's not a problem, can you ACTUALLY tell the difference between 11ms and 22ms whilst flying? I know you can on a workbenck with some electronic test equipment, but in the air? I have both Helis and Aircraft, are you suggesting I should have bought a DX7se for the helis and a 12X for the jets? - I bought only one radio and that was a 12X and it's fantastic.

I'll never be good enough to notice lag times and I don't have enough time in the day to practice constantly. I'm stepping up from a Futaba 9CAP so anything will be faster in my book! But, I do like the DX7 in the Spektrum line and it would be a fine radio, but I'm gonna go the 12X route so I only have one radio.

Whoops
Whoops. I meant 2.7V. So where you see 2.4v please insert 2.7V. I must have 2.4 Ghz on my mind too much.

Misinformation
Ok. I'm going to close this one.

I had a good phone conversation with John Adams from Horizon. He is one of the guys who developed the Spektrum/JR system we have today. Anyway, he actually initiated the phone call to me! That's a first for me! One of the big guys wanting to talk to just me! Pretty cool in my book. He has authorized me to state on here that the information that I have referenced in my original post is all misinformation. He stated that any purchase I make now on any radio or receiver WILL work in the future. They have no plans of "duping" a customer as the web site states. The receivers will not be changed to accomodate what Futaba is or has tried.

Guys.... I'll tell you like I see it. If someone like that is willing to call me on the phone and talk to me like a human being and a helicopter nut... well... you got my business. Futaba better take note. They just lost a long time customer here. As for me... my money is going to the JR 12X radio and my whole fleet is getting switched over to Spektrum/JR receivers.

Without making this post too long, he answered any and all of my questions I had and was openly willing to talk about the other competitors products. Let the record be known that he did not bad mouth any of the competitors, but only had praise for all of the systems. No. I'm not getting paid for this.

This is what customer service is. Thank you for putting "Fun" back into this hobby.
