Some are fiberglass, higher end are actually carbon fiber composite.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

I think all Mikado canopies are painted in germany. I do agree that Mikado canopies are kind of pricy. Canomods are the second suppliers making the Logo canopies but however Fusuno used to make them at one point and for some reason just stopped. Maybe could be license trademark issue?.

i have grate respect to mikado having most of the stuff made in germany.

and still be able to sell it for a decent price

if we did not buy so much import from the east usa and eu would be a more healthy place to live in

if u want to sell something in china u have to produce it there

west just import and give the money away

import export is way out of balance

i started with nothing and still got most of it left

I am waiting for this one

Will it me fly better? NO, I will be the same lousy flyer.
Go to Insane Canopies and you will see similar price. I have few of those and they have great paint job.

I do agree with you that Mikado Logo's are well engineered and superb heli's, that's why i've been flying them lately!. However, there pricing on there canopies are a little bit off the pricing chart vs. other canopy makers(Canomods,Fusuno,Ace Canopy,etc.etc..).I'm not saying cutting there prices in half but in a way where they should be more resonable affordable to customers.

Some things to consider. Sure you can get a cheaper canopy done in China. Will the paint used be as nice? Not from what i've seen. Mikado uses high quality paints which is apparent the first time you see one in person.

Most other canopy designs are not full wrap around and far more simple than the logo canopies.

Mikado canopies are produced in Germany. The Euro is much stronger than the dollar right now and labor costs more in than it does in China.

I've seen some of the Fusuno type canopies and talked to the owners. Be prepared to take a dremel to get proper landing strut clearance and in some cases add your own cooling hole. Also you'll likely need a reamer to add canopy mounts and hope you get the holes lined up correctly. I don't want to have to cut or drill into a freshly painted canopy, I prefer a finished product. The Mikado canopies come ready to mount and don't require you to finish off the job.

Some of the higher priced Mikado canopies actually have real carbon fiber in them that is revealed in the windshiled and behind the lettering. It's not the faux CF effect you will see painted on some canopies. I don't know of any other company producing a canopy with real CF in it. Of course using CF adds to the material cost.

As previously said.... Quality costs money. And you'll not get a Logo canopy from anyone else than Mikado unless they buy white Mikado canopies. And if they do it will cost the same or more.
Just take a look at the new Scorpion HK4225... developed here in Europe, build in China. Labor is cheap there, but doing wiring by hand still costs (and don't forget the rest). Just like the white Mikado canopy, Scorpion will offer a kit of this HK42-Motor and you can do it on your own...

I recently bought a L400 canopy for my Logo 10 and I was a bit disappointed with the fit of it. The paint looks nice but the top hole is not evenly cut out. It will require some dremeling to even it out. My Fusono canopy that I had previously did not require any dremeling. Also there is not enough material to get a true wraparound (neither did the Fusono). I had a L400 plastic canopy in the past and it did wrap around and was secured with Velcro. I figured Mikado canopies would be better than this. Also the paint job is a bit boring. I know that this is highly subjective but I thought the Fusono canopy was much cooler looking with the checkered pattern and fades. One thing that is nice is I did not have to cut a vent hole since the Mikado canopy already came with one. Not a bad canopy by any means but I expected more from Mikado and personally liked the Fusono one better overall. Just my .02

MrNiceGuy,

just an idea...Make sure your canopy stand offs are screwed all the way into the frames. They get tight way before they hit bottom. If they aren't all the way in, the canopy won't meet at the back.

Every Logo 400 canopy I've seen has comes pretty close to meeting at the back. I've also seen guys intentionally trim them to get a uniform gap at the rear. But your comment that the Fusuno didn't meet at the back also, makes me think you might have the issue noted above.

Hope this might help (-:

I would like to order the new fluro green canopy, I just hope they are better than the last few i got because for $178US its a bit of cash.
I did email mikado and they say the manufacturing process has not changed at all but it did for certain.

The first colored canopies had very good quality and silver foil stickers for the Logo 600 writing.

Now the differnces i found in the recent ones are (all 3 that i bought):

-Middle join is weaker
-Front right side has dimple and very thin
-canopy does not wrap around all the way properly
-letters in grey paint
-blemishes in the paint including stencil lettering

However I must say that readyheli and mikado did resolve it to my satisfaction.

Howdooo!

What kills me about the whole Mikado canopy drama is the lost opportunity to promote the product by having a thousand different - dare I say cool looking Logos out there. I've probably had 10 logo canopies - most were factory. My favorite was a cheapo Fusuno.

Mikado makes a fine product. There is no denying that. But their paint schemes are anything but sexy. Evidently that's a word that has little value or meaning in the German lexicon.
