How well does the Rave auto with the 350mm blades? Better than a normal 450 heli? I know it won't auto as well as my Logo 500 FBL, and I wouldn't assume it could, but I'm curious as to how well it does auto. I know with 450 helis, you have to come down very very fast, then at the last second use the collective, as I have seen in videos. Does the Rave tend to float more during autos or does it act like a regular 450?

When u don't feel like soaring through the air with a plane, beat it into submission w/ a heli!

i say no auto for 450 size, even using 350 blade, u can exeriment it at the sand area ie beach soo u will have less damage on ur heli, the balde inertia will tend to lose faste compare to bigger heli, but no harm to try it once but crashes will turn u down on auto the 450 size heli, i only auto if somthing happen while flying it eg mechanical failure on 450 size, then my thumb are set to switch the thr hold automatically.

I only tried a few autos with Rave and 325 blades and that was some of a near-death-experience. No big margins however.

The Rave with 350 blades autos quite nice. I have done hundreds, something for every flight. Hard to say about hang time, you do some flare and set it down, I do most of mine on asphalt. Less risk of tangling the tail rotor and easier to slide at the end.

Even quite possible to do some acrobatic on the way down as well.

Just keep flying

I have a Rave with 350mm blades and it autos fine. That not to say you should learn on a small machine, but if you already have a good handle on autos, its fun. Try with a 10mph steady wind.

Running the 350, 4S setup it autos nicely. It doesn't float like the bigger machine but I do them all the time. A small bit of wind helps but autos with this setup are very doable!! Much better than a 325, 3S setup!

One of the first things I did with my Rave was auto it.

Mine is also a 4s set up with 350 size blades. I would not do it into the grass. Dragging the tail in the grass can strip the gears fairly easily.

Just go real high with enough distance to bail if you need to.

You will be surprised how the Rave can do auto's. I was never able to do any good autos on my trex 450, but the Rave with the 350 blades will auto all day. I spent a whole pack last week just doing autos with my Rave and not a single crash

Auto's with Rave450...
Auto's with 450 helis are doable.
With 350 blades Auto's are even better.
We do it every flight.
Tourqe tube and 350 blades allow you do Auto's almost like a big machine. what I mean is that you don't need to dive very quickly.

Best regards,
Nadav Barak.

yes, of course.
Auto's is not about power(3 or 4S). it is about RPM maintain.
I always suggest identical pitch curve from middle of throrttle stick and above. also for normal flight phase.
this way when you move to Hold flight phase you won't fill any jumping. try to do it from half meter and see how easy it is.
now start do it from a little bit higher.
after certain height (10-15 meters) you will need to maintain RPM by giving negative pitch.
below that height it is not Auto. you are just using the blades inertia.
in real Auto you are actualy building RPM.

Best regards,
Nadav barak.

Wow, I didn't even know you could auto a 250 that well. I figured the blades wouldn't hold enough headspeed. Nice autos on that 250!
