After a bit of a learning curve I finally cut my very first CNC part. I started off simple and made a set of G10 tail pushrod guides for Hampilot and his upgraded carbon tail pushrod. Next up are designing some vert/horz fins and servo extension arms before the granddaddy project of cutting a frame set that I've been working on for months now. I've prototyped the frames set he old fashion way by hand cutting/mechanical drawing so its just a matter of developing the CAD/CAM skills to make it digital at this point.

my set up:
zenbot desktop cnc router table
wolfgang spindle for precision work
RZ10 for rough cutting
Mach 3
CamBam
TurboCAD 9 which I bought 10 years ago!
homemade dust collector

Nice job. Talk to smallplanes. He is a CNC master and could certainly give you some tips.

I've come along way from my first simple pushrod guide a few months ago...
The most recent version of the super 700 fbl frames have been greatly simplified:
  • no longer a two piece electronics tray
  • mixture servo mounting now part of the main frame
  • slightly opened up the tolerances so you can adjust gear mesh a bit
  • included two jig holes to make the swash links perfect lenght(two balls on left side by tail boom mount)
I finally had time to get it in the air on monday but a tail sensor failure brought testing to an earlier than expected end with a crash. But crashing is part of the deal and learned that a few minor details need to be changed. So a few little tweaks here and there and I'll have another set cut and ready to fly again this weekend. But in the short time I got it in the air it felt real good, pop was awesome, response around center stick was very crisp and added power from electric cooling fan was easily noticeable.
