I want to convert my 30 to a 50. I am a sport/scale flyer I want an engine that will just work good for a long time. I am looking at the OS hyper. I like OS engines for some reason I dont know why. What are the positive's or negative's against this motor. It seems the TTredline is quite popular is there a reason for this?

Now remember I want durability not a screamin hotrod That could be easily overheated. Oh and if it helps I run coolpower 30%.

No Really I am the club President!!!

Hyper or 50 SXH. Both well proven motors.

I think the 53 is popular cos it was the first of the newer large bore 50's. Although a number of them have suffered with carb problems.

Not sure why your running coolpower 30 if you don't want a 'screamin hotrod' as you put it and fly sport/scale

Probably because of the pricing, more affordable for some.

You will not go wrong with OS, and for that matter, the TT53 with the new carb.

thanks guy's

Maybe I am imagining things but:

I run 30% coolpower Not so much for the power but for the cooling. The extra nitro content Allows me to run richer than I was at 15% and the motor is way cooler. The crankcase cover (backplate) I could leave my finger on it as long as I want. I couldnt do that and get good power out of 15%.

Maybe I was doing something wrong but its worth the money for me to keep the engine cooler.

I burn a case a year but I guess that will jump up to 2 cases with a 50.

Tryan,
You can pick up a descent 50 hyper for around 125 on the classifieds. I know mine has never given me any trouble and i dont mess with the needles at all. Once you get it set all is well. Mine fires very quickly everytime. Go for a 50 hyper.

I just moved my .46 FX-H out of my Falcon, replaced with a Hyper 50. All I can say is that the Hyper 50 is a very smooth running engine with lots of power in comparison - the .46 has 1.6 HP, the .50 Hyper has 1.9 HP. I'm going to move the .46 to my Raptor .30. The fuel burn rate is about 30% higher than with the .46, though. I get about 7.5 minutes/tank now.

Im useing both of these engines and they have never ever gave me any bother what so ever. I run cool power 30 in both of them and they have been bomb proof in the 3 years that i have been useing them.

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!

thank you just what I wanted to hear. 3 years maintenance free for a $170 motor sounds good to me.

That's 3 years without swapping bearings? Interesting.

Can't go wrong with the Hyper 50. Great combo with the MP5 as well. Smooth running and plenty of power. +1 DC

Yep, three years and no bearings needed. It depends how hard your running your engines, what the humidity level is where you fly plus a lot of other things. I burn 7 gallon of coolpower 30 every year which might not be a lot. I really dont understand all the hype about the O.S 50 hyper bearings being crap.
