hello im thinking of buying the 50 comp as it looks realy nice in the pictures that i have seen. are all the little teething problems as easy to sort as you boys make out. i have a trex 600ltd that i have had about 3months (that im keeping) and i have a raptor titan that i am selling to help fund the ely.q 50 comp. is this a good idea... any views on this thanks

I built mine over Christmas, went together well but not flown it yet so can not comment on the issues.

I was not impressed by the links, but the quality of the kit is great. Seems to be isloated issues with the main gear, but I think this has to do with being careful when installing the clutch stack. There are some good tips on here.

Also, I think the model itself looks fab.

Can't comment on whether it would be better than your Titan.

Cheers,

Simon

i would like to add that the vision 50 comp is a great heli, but will need to tinker a bit on it. it flies wonderful, but i think that the bottom plate is a necessary item to add... have to order 2 for both of mine

The base plate is a must have IMO.. Also. There should be some reinforcement at the front where the front skid is mounted.. both side of my frame broke at that part today when my tail snapped, which is the other component we need to pay much attention to as the tail rotor bearing is only held by thin rim of plastic.. That part snapped on me today.. Anyway, I should have knew better to replace the case for a raptor one which I did for my Ultimate..

So.. Here's my list of must have and should replace..

1. Tail Case.. Either get the raptor ones, or get the torque tube which will eventually comes with a metal case..

2. Base plate.. The frame will flex when bent lightly, and may crumble upon nose/tail down impact.

3. Reinforcement to the front part of the frame where the skid is mounted.. There's really not much "carbon" within that part of the frame while that's the part which may receive some of the hardest force upon impact.. This is just like the tail case where it's all strong at the wrong place. and really weak at the right place for the wrong reason.

That said.. It flies really well.. But just don't attempt any hard landing, or use it for Auto-rotation practice..

Think I'll go back to my Ultimate for now until I get the above changes in place..

Yes, Reinforce the frames around the landing gear area as much as possible. ElyQ realizes that this is a weak point, and we are working on some doublers for this area.

But for now, do as I have done, and double them up yourself with some spare carbon. Even if you just run a strip and glue and screw it, it will help in a crash for sure. Better safe than sorry

Hope this helps

Craig

if you have a set of the red raptor dampers, keep them and use them in the vision 50, the stock ones are too hard...

On a stock Hyper 50 the Outrage pipe works much better than the Align. But, the new pipes from ElyQ are coming soon, and they are even better yet. Watch for them.
