I am rebuilding nad YS91. The piston and liner are scared. Looks like the engine got pretty hot.

I had to pound out the wrist pin to remove and this is the first engine I have re-built.

Should the wrist pin insert into the new piston easily or does it usually require aggresive taping?

I want to know if I should purchase a new pin.

It should slide easy, probably has burned oil on the pin.

I agree. You may clean the wrist pin lightly with 600 grit sand paper while damp with oil. Just sand it symmetrically and round. If you have to force any parts, you should stop, remove it, inspect it, and find what the cause is.

During reassembly, if you have to tap parts into place, you'll likely have small metal shavings in your newly rebuild engine. Don't do that.
