Which Trex 600 Nitro or Electric is the best one to buy? Are they basically the same helicopters except for the power system or does the nitro outperform the Lipo powered?

electric can win hands down for power. throw a 55 in and a N has more then enough power.

stock VS stock I love and fly both. Stock E has more power and torque over the N. The N has a big graceful presenceand I fly mine different then the E.

there is no best One to buy, its what flavor do you like

600N gets my vote. Head and tail are basically the same but the frames are different. Just about every 600E I have seen fly loses the majority of its power after 2-3 mins of 3D

... but they sure do look good for that first 2 mins

The nitro gets messy but I fly it 20 to 1 to my electric 600. The batteries are expensive and dont last forever too. Nitro, fuel and fly pay as you go. I smashed a 5000mah battery in a quick oops, $280.00 down the drain!

IMO...

The stock 6S Trex 600 will disapoint you, better go with the nitro. If you plan on going 8S or 10S, get the electric.

Regarding cost, yes, if you're flying around with a $300 pack, it's dicey. I can outfit my Knight 600E with an 8S setup for $130, which includes the $30 shipping fee. This is 2, 4S 5000 25C packs.

Don't let cost be a factor if you're thinking electrics. Only downside is the half timed flights you'll get.

Life is tough, it's tougher if you're stupid

I would say Nitro just because you get more consistent power over the course of your flight.

Trex 600e
I own a stock Trex600esp,its very new,and i love it ..Batteries back then are so expensive, but now i fly Turnigy 6 cell,5000mah 40c on mine, like $95.00 a battery, come down cold..I run the stock 650L with a 15 tooth pinion, and has plenty of power, gas are nice also but in the long run gas cost alot more to own...
So i say get a 600ESP,its worth every penny

600esp
Oh buy the way i do light 3d with my 600esp..Some say they lose power after a few min flight, not true..i was flying mine this past saturday,i have my timer set at 5min 20 seconds, anyways i was having so much fun doing inverted climbouts when the buzzer went off i said i'll do a few more of them.So i finally deceided to land at 5min 50sec,and my battery % on my cellmeter8, was 15 percent,it had the same amount of power as it did as when i flew it at 100%.
So definately not true about electrics dropping power,i would of never known,if it wasnt for my timer plus i was in the air longer then it was set..Power was the same throughout the flight!!

Popcorn is right because I wanna see a video of dbgood's 6 min flight with no power loss.I never seen a 6 cell 600E fly that long doing 3D with no power loss unless theres a way to change batterys while flying.

NQNA,
Electrics loose power after the first 3 1/2 mins while nitro keeps the same amount of power through the whole 8min flight.Heres my buddys 12cell 600E (crazy power for the first 3 mins) and my 600 Nitro. There both good helis, just buy a few extra lipos for a 8cell setup if you fly mild 3D.

Had a 10S 600ESP. LOTS of power for 4minutes not one second more....Half nitro time.
Also packs don't last long either...don't expect THAT performance beyond 50cycles.

I have both the t-rex 600 nitro and 600esp. Personally, I enjoy flying the 600esp more. It is my favorite bird in my fleet. I currently run it on 6 cells which is ok. Flight times don't really bother me too much.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

When I flew my 600e on 6s1p and 3d fly it almost falls out of the sky compared to 10s1p. 10s outperform nitro for first 3 min.
about 12 flights per gallon =48 flights per case at 130ish a case.
Im going to stick with the electric for now. on 10s1p.
trex600 10s1p about 2500rpm at the head, fun to fly.

A 10s/12s 600size electric with good lipo and motor running a headspeed of at least 2200rpm will be way more powerful than a 50size nitro, even at the end of the flight. It is in fact, even harder to bog than a 90size nitro. It is so good that how fast you can do tic-toc is limited only to how fast you can move your fingers, even after 3mins+ into the flight.

However, there is one big issue- IT IS ALL OVER IN JUST 4MINS.

You guys can't be running the stock Align Motor on 8, 10 or 12s packs..

What motors are you running and on what pinion and "S" config?

thanks..

Really quite typical, though not a Turnigy battery. Try this link for a better explanation. Gearing, Head Speed, Load, temp, etc. would alter this curve.
They will hold their voltage pretty well over the whole fight with the RIGHT SETUP. - Brian
