I may be going to either Japan or South Korea in August for a year or two to teach English and would like to be able to fly while I'm over there. I have a few questions for those that may know more than I with regards to RC in these two countries.

I'm assuming I could use a 72mhz or a 2.4 radio system? Would I need to use one purchased in the country or could I bring my own?

Would it be better off shipping my heli to where ever I will be living in Japan or South Korea from the US? Or should I buy one over there?

Also, where are some good places to buy heli stuff in the area?

I lived in Japan for 4 years in the late 80's. They use 40 MHz for their FM/PCM band. I don't know if 2.4 GHz is an approved band. I know that 27 MHz was allowed for RC Cars, though.

http://www.fai.org/aeromodelling/frequencies - this has more info for helis.
