Okay, I am getting back into the hobby (for the fourth time in 2 years) and I am undecided between a T-rex 600E or Protos 500. I have found two deals that are close in price --> $500 for a T-Rex 600 RTF (minus RX) and about $400 give or take for a Protos 500. Your WISE input is deeply appreciated..

Battery costs are substancially higher on the 600.

Also from what I've seen and read most folks are happier with their 600 of they go to 8S or even higher voltage which will add a substancial cost to swap out the motor and ESC. Having said that I've seen a number of 600E 6S setups at our field and they fly great.

When I'm ready to buy another heli it'll likely be a 500 size. Big money difference and every one I've seen flys great. I like the Protos for the belt driven super smooth and quiet transmission. I have my eye on the HK500GT though.

A 600 and 500 size heli there is no comparison really flying wise. The larger heli has a heck of a lot more presence and if you have the space, why not? Also parts for the Rex 600 are on par price wise with the 500. Blades can be had for about the same price on either too.

I had a Rex 500 and crash cost was the same as my Rex 600, actually booms for the 500 cost more even. Battery wise, the 600 is going to set you back more in battery cost and be a lot lot more demanding on what you use to charge, like a car battery or something. I've flown around a Rex 600 on 6S and it flew nicely, not hardcore 3D class, but nicely. 8S on the Rex 600 is more desired and easier on the batts, esc and motor.

Personally though, neither can beat a Logo imo. I got a Logo 500 using 550mm blades, its right in between the 600 and 500, can fly ridiculous on 6S if you want it to, protects the battery from crashes by placing it safely inside the frame and is very strong in a crash.

Yes, but just cause I'm sticking to nitro for longer flight times right now and its easier to get two helis from the same brand going from a parts stock standpoint. Definitely not selling it cause its a bad helicopter, one of the best I've owned. Still, one day I'll get another electric and you bet a Logo will be the one I'll get over all others.
