Hi

I have a dout about the helicopter rotor rotation.
I need to understand the left hand and right hand to finish a setup in a Vario EC 135 helicopter.
The electronic device (phase controller)instruction manual says I need to identify if the rotor is left or right hand, viewing from top and behind the heli but I don´t know if I need to look for the blade pointing to the front or to the rear of the heli.
Is the left hand clockwise or counterclockwise?

Thanks

Tohme

If you're talking about main rotor direction it's always viewed from the top so right hand is clockwise and lefthand is counter clockwise.

It's a left hooker ... look at the main blades from above and they will rotate anti clock wise when running

Cheers

Left handed is counter-clockwise when looked at from above.
. . . like the earth's rotation,
. . . like the moon going around the earth,
. . . like the earth going around the sun.

Conclusion . . . . we live in a left handed universe . . . .

...or just a counterclockwise universe. But I like your observation.

Not so much. The right hand or left hand rule describes rotations about an axis. If the axis points up, a righ-handed rotation will be counter-clockwise when looking down on that axis. In other words it behaves exactly like a right-hand or left-hand thread. Look along the bolt and turn the nut counter-clockwise, and it will come up the axis/bolt toward you.

Interesting. Tell me how you figure out how to look at any of these things "from above".

Useing the same nut and bolt, now look along the bolt with the nut closest to you and turn the nut clockwise and it will still come up the axis of the bolt but the nut is now going to go away from you. It all boils down to from where you look at it. I fly helis with both left and right hand rotation of the main blades and the only real differnce i notice is when you lift off is clockwise rotation the right hand skid hangs low and anti clockwise rotation the left hand skid hangs low. Its more noticable in the full size as you have to be ready with right pedal or left pedal as soon as you raise the collective.

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!
