Here is a link to the Wally motor website: http://www.rc-aftermarket.com

I'm not sure if you can get a fan and shroud anymore through this website. I think they are going to be sold as factory options through either Century or Miniature Aircraft. As for the motor's current price, I do not know that either. I paid for mine about 18 months ago.

Does this mean the fan and shroud do not come with the motor? I thought the success of this motor was dependant on the new fan.

I talked to Wally about this last night. The problem is that the fiberglass guy who was making the shouds stopped making them due to some personal issues. So what Wally has been testing is a fan that actually fits inside the stock Century and Miniature Aircraft shroud (which is a little bit smaller than the Wally shroud). The weather has not been real hot lately, so the results are still out, but if this new fan seems to be successful, I think Wally is going to licence the Wally fan to be sold as factory upgrades through either Century or Miniature Aircraft (or both).

So to answer your question, Ace, the motor does not come with the fan/shroud. It comes just like a Hanson or Toxic motor and at the moment you have to add your own stock fan/shroud.

Well then the success is now dependant on the end user as to how much additional HP can actually be acquired from this modded engine

Something is not making sense here. Looks like the cart before the horse. The fan and shroud can be used on a stock engine so why not convert the Heli Mfg., Century, MA, Bergen, ect. to supply the fan and shrouds right from the get go? Engine first means there will be allot of useless fans and shrouds around unless the motor doesn't sell because the conversion cost are too high.

the stock fan/shroud will still fit the hyper motor. The aftermarket versions are more effective than the stock setups, but it will still work

I can't spead for Bergen or Century, but Brian at Miniature Aircraft said it would be extremely expensive to make a new larger shroud. That is why Wally is trying to modify his fan design to fit inside the stock shrouds.

I can see where it would be expensive to offer both but if all heli manufacturers are using the same shroud then it becomes very cheap. They all use zenoah engines, yes?

The idea is to do what is right for the end user. The cost of the shroud is the same regardless of what the shape is within reason.

in the case of the Spectra, its molded

Its not the cost of the shroud, its the cost of changing the mold. some types of changes are easy and inexpensive, other types are not easy and become very expensive.

You have a point, everyone is using the same motors but everyones hubs, fans, mount plates, shrouds are all different.

With the exception of the mounting plates, explain to me why they have to be.
