Anyone been to this resort that can enlighten a first timer?

Never snowboard or skied?

Is the snow at this resort soft/powdered.

Sorry for the naive question but I'm a native to tropical conditions.

i am actually skiing in the french Alps, and I've never been to this resort
all i can tell you is that snow will be powdered when it's fallen fresh. Once it has "melted" during dayligt and reiced during night, it becomes harder. Snowmachines, which spray water overnight, when it's freezing, will not make good snow either.
The elevation of the resort will play an important rule for snow quality, as well as the time of year you intend to go there

I personally have not been to sunrise. My father has though. He personally hates the place. We drive up to flagstaff snowball instead, steeper, more challenging, and better management (not to mention a much shorter drive from phoenix). I have been told sunrise is a better spot for a beginner but since I have never been there can't say for sure. As for the snow conditions, flagstaff gets very similar snow as utah, dry/fluffy snow so I would expect sunrise to be the same. As with any other resort, if it hasn't snowed in over a week the conditions will not be that good.
