I can only guess that you are at least getting SOME aid or able to do SOME work if you fly RC helicopters and have somewhere safe to live, with electricity, and that you have a computer and the internet. I assume you wrote that post from some sort of computer in some sort of shelter.
Ive been disabled for over 5 years now, spinal fusion in my neck and lower back, can't ever work again, married with a 10 month old, turned down for state aid 4 times, fighting the past 2 1/2 years for disibilty.
You may think you have it bad, but remember, these people down there have NOTHING and are DYING from the destitution. Some have taken to eating mud, which has no nutritional value and cannot sustain life, but they eat it so they "feel" a bit fuller. Insane.
You may look around in the U.S. and see a bum here and there, but that is NOTHING compared to third world countries. A bum here can get a meal or shelter whenever he decides to.
I'm one for being compassionate in our own country, and I don't believe that we need to give even one haitian food for the rest of his life while he sits on his arse, but I DO think we can help rebuild that country to get them on their feet again, because we can.
I'm sorry what happened to you, but if anything I would hope that you would understand their position MORE. One of hopelessness, until someone steps in and helps.
If you were haitian, your injury would NOT have been treated and you may have simply starved to death while living in pain.
