What is the hottest 3S motor for the Rave? I want to go 3S as I am going FBL on it and will be using the new ThunderPower 45C packs so I am not to worried about it sucking too hard on the pack. Also I can always drop a pinion if the flight times stink too bad.

Just wanting comments. With FBL I just believe 4S is not necessary and also I want a perfectly balanced machine as FBL prefers that. I know I have a Logo 600 V-Stabi. I don't want to mount the tail servo back on the boom either, I know there is a tail clamp for that.

I am going to be running 325's too. I hear 350's are too much for 3S. That true???

Thanks guys,

Norman Ross Jr.

Having only used one 3S engine. There is nothing wrong with the 2221-6 engine. Just use it. :-)

Have found absolutely no problem using 350 blades in a 3S machine. You have to be a little careful with how you add pitch. I have only 400 flights with 3S and 350 blades, it works. :-)

The machine was just fitted with a 4S engine. Just waiting for the temperature to get decent.

just run -6 on 3s with 350s with 13 tooth pinion. 100 percent throttle and it rocks, i have two raves, one on 3s and one on 4s. I actually prefer the 3s one now as the 4s one is really ballistic and almost unmanageable sometimes.

The 3S, Scorp 6 motor is a hot little combo... I've run it on 3S in the past and it's really got some fire with 325 Radix blades. The big difference in the 325 and 350 blades is not only length but the width as well. Lay a set out beside each other and you'll see what I mean. 350's will really load the 3s setup. It may be ok for sport flying but hard 3d might be a stretch! Running the 3s setup and Scorp 6 motor on a flat 100% TH curve really gets the packs hot after about 3:30 minutes pushing it hard! I'm not saying it can't be done to some degree but it is not optimum IMHO. I also believe the 350's rob the 3S setup of torque!

hmm weird, runs perfect for me, slightly less torque then 4s -8 but overall the heli flys lighter. i am only using 30c packs and i only get 2:45-3:00 total flight time before the packs are totally drained. this is what nick runs thats why i tried it and like it.

The thing is I am going to running FBL. Do you think the 350's are too much of a blade for a FBL machine?

Sheesh am I the only one running a -8? with a 14 tooth pinon? it only turns 2900 on 3s battery. really thought I had the hot set up. with the -10 I was seeing just 2600+ all though this shouldn't matter much I'm also running on 325 blades.

-10 needs to be run on 4s, change the pinion on your -8 to 12 and run it on 4s, then youll have power. if you are going to run 3s i recommend -6.
