I have a Vigor CS that I'm thinking about converting to a gasser. Any info on parts or conversion kits would be appreciated.

I'm not sure that there are any "conversion kits" for the JR helis to "gas".

I would highly recomend looking into one of the four well known and successful gas mechanic manufacturers. Those being Bergen, Century, Minature Aircraft, & Vario.

thanks for the link BeltFedBrowning. Since I'm basically in the dark about the different kinds of engines, which do you think would be the best compromise between performance and price. Are the B23 and B26 Hanson engines?? If so where can I find one new or used??

I have 2 JR Z230's. They have the 23cc zenoah and they run great with lots of power. I use heavy 198 gram Radix 710mm blades and they never bog. If I were building one I would use a professionally balanced 23cc unless you are going to use it for 3D.

I have no plans of 3D right now. Just want to fly around and practice orientation and stuff. Where would you find a balanced 23cc? Do you have to run a rev limiter on a gasser?

I spent years using just the curves and got along just fine. No governor, no rev limiter. None of my 23cc Zenoahs were balanced. They were just the stock engines. The Vibe airframe is going to be very light so you will see any vibrations to a high degree. Lets see if we can get Raja to give us some tips on a balanced Zenoah 23cc.

I'm curious, why a balanced engine for non 3D and an unbalanced engine for 3D? If you are trying precision hovering will the vibration throw your hover off? Do these gasser engines vibrate more than a nitro engine? Oh, my airframe is a Vigor CS. Will that make any difference as far as vibrations being noticeable?

I was saying that a balanced 23cc on that light airframe for non 3D. If I were building a 3D gasser heli out of a Vibe I would use a balanced 26cc to power it. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok now I understand. Do you know how to get ahold of Raja so we can get some info on balancing?

You can use a stock 23cc without the custom balancing if you aren't doing mad 3D. I have 5 gassers and only my Mongoose has had any aftermarket balancing done to it. You see a used 23cc on here from time to time. If you are determined to get your engine balanced it will make your heli have fewer vibrations, it is just not absolutely necessary.

Mad 3D won't be happening for quite awhile!!! More than likely never. I just want to build a good, reliable, and fairly smooth heli. I would like to try my hand at AP sometime. Right now I just need a bird that is a smooth flier. I do not need to be doing any crazys@#t!
