I have been using 6S 5000mAh packs in my e550 and like the extra flight time.
I had been using zippy batteries from hobby city but now Xheli has them for $89.
Xheli Lipos

I got some lipos and spent time testing one. It was on par if not better than the zippy-H battery I had purchased last year from Hobby City for $129. You have to put your own Deans on the Blue Lipo brand.

I soldered it up, charged, broke it in, then put a couple flights/charges on it. It was on par if not a little better than the zippy. Cool to the touch after landing and no puffing. I typically fly 7+ minutes on a 6S 5000 pack with the e550 doing mostly sport flying with a little bit of inverted, flips, rolls & loops.

The battery fits right into the e550 frame with no mods that I had to do.
I got some 25C packs for the 450 and 500 and they were just as good.

There is an Xheli coupon code here:

I have the same bird, and two Turnigy 6S 5000mah 30C packs. I have gotten about 7 minutes of forward flight, and a couple of loops.

I had to dial down the throttle curve to get my headspeed down since I'm running the woodies...

I have just installed the 9T pinion to lower my headspeed with higher throttle curves, but have not tested it yet since California is underwater right now...

What set up do you have?

I have the -K11 kit which came with the ace BL motor and 75A ESC.
Hyperion DS-20 FMD servos on cyclic and DS-20 GMD on tail
Logitech 2100T gyro
10+ year old fiberglass SAB4 blades (from my raptor .30)
Upgrades:
Stainless steel tail hum
CF fins
Boom mounted tail servo
Bolt/Washer Chinese weight mod

I did not fly it that much last year, got only about 30-40 flights on it but I have not had to touch anything yet when I was not fiddling with the above upgrades. Oneway bearing is squealing so I need to pull that apart and check it.

I'm running 2000rpm head speed.
I elected to run 6S 5000's instead of 4000's to get the extra flight time. The extra weight is not that bad at least the way I fly the e550. I don't do alot with it prefering to toss around the 450 and 500 instead.

I ran some more flights on those Lipos and my friend borrowed one for his Trex 600 to try them, then ordered 2 for his 600.

boom mounted tail servo got rid of some of the rod flex and helped control the tail better.

Chinese weight mod:
