I was slightly concerned about the statement and to be fare I might have typed before I thought about it.

But I do agree people buy purely for looks.

Personally I have 8717's too but it's good to have another brushless HV option out there so we can start ditching the regs and remove another potential item that may fail.

thats what i meant. the speed is awsome! more then youll ever need, as well as the torque. and the physical looks are cool, you have to admit that!

As far as my (not that big) experience with servos goes,
beyond speed and torque there is also positioning accuracy,
step resolution, as well as gearbox wear resistance, deadband,
potentiometer durability and all sorts of things about a servo.

For a gyro servo there is also the pulse width... For small
corrections coming from a gyro the position update frequency
might be easily more important for tail stability
than the (rated) maximum deflection speed.

Also on paper similar Hitec servo look better than equivalent Futaba,
while in reality the latter are much more smooth, durable
and accurate. Myself I am not going to risk the $$$ ( or €€€ )
along with people safety by using cheap/untested servos.

Btw. what's up with all these over-the-top "kool" names :
"Outrage", "Radikal", "Xtreme" and all that stuff that sounds
like it's coming from bike modders or gangsta rappers ;-)

I am waiting for a "Kustom Kool SupaDupa TurboHelo Mutha 4D"
machine, with a skull and dragon's head airbrushed in glo-green
on an "Insane kanopy" ...gimme a break

(OK, just kidding, please don't shoot

If you're gonna fly it today, then I bet you'll need some
"Kool BriteLite Kustom LED Blades" too, as it's already dark
overe here, on ours side of the pond ;-)

Oh seems I'm getting cabin fever - all day in the office
and if I get outside then it's either still dark or already dark

I ordered one and got at RMA request 1 day after it was sent:

"Hello! I am writing in regards to your below order, which includes an
Outrage Digital Tail Servo - BL9088. To ensure the best quality,
performance & experience, the manufacturer has issued a recall due to
possible gear issues, which may affect the performance of the servo. We
deeply regret this inconvenience, and assure you that we are resolving this
problem in a rapid fashion, and will have new servos that will be ready to
ship in 2 weeks."

Does this suck or not :arggg:

Tail servos
Yeah...a bit of a bummer for sure...I have 3 more I'm waiting for myself...

but it's better they catch any possible issues before they even come out....

from what I hear it is not a serious gear issue...but nonetheless they want to check them all out and make sure they are perfect.

I just got a few sets of the cyclics yesterday and they are blazing fast and smooth...just like the tail servo.

BTW...I have been flying one of these tail servos for a while now and they are super nice...I have mine running on a straight 8volts...no dropdown reg and it flies great..

I'd rather give up torque for speed...(3 servos at 132oz is still plenty of torque for most any heli)
but how do they compare in the resolution dept ??? all well having mega torque, but if it's like a car servo then no good for heli's ... er if you want accuracy that is

Cheers

At least they are pro-active, plenty of manufacturers would do nothing for those sold already but do a quiet mod / upgrade on the new batch's.

Again I can’t find any warranty info on the Outrage servos, am I missing something here? I just can’t see these servos worth what they are asking. If you by JR HV servos you get a three year warranty and top shelf support they can fix, repair or replace the servos with in three years and Outrage servos?.... Noting best of luck with the servos. For a new comer / relabeled servos its allot of $$$..
