To Whom It May Concern,

After a long hiatus from the hobby, I was looking at getting back in. Picked up a Tx and a copy of Phoenix 2.5 and was looking at possible options for heli purchase. It's 10 degrees outside right now so I've got a little time.

The 600LE, does it have to come with the Align electronics (gyro, servo etc) in the kit or are there kits available without the electronics? Are the Align electronics any good or basically throw away? Thanks.

Actually, the Align electronics really aren't that bad.

Sure, there are better options available, though.

However, I really like the servos. I've been flying the DS610's on cyclic for almost 2 years. I'm very pleased. Best bang for the buck, IMO

But, if you're looking for a kit without electronics, there are a few shops that will sell them this way. All it takes is a phone call, or an email. Ron's, or Grand RC being the first that come to mind.

Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..
Nope.
It's ***ked!!!
RE-KIT!!!!!

You can get them for $530 with blades no electronics or $810 with electronics. Me and plenty others fly the Align electronics plenty fine with great performance. Other brands electronics just make it cost more.

The Align electronics have worked great for me.
I am runing the 610's and a 620 on the tail. I am also using the Align gov and it has worked great. I origonally thought that I would switch to a Multi-gov, but the proformance have been good so far. The Multi-gov is on the way though.

I bought my first first 'big' Align late last summer. A 700 with the Align servos and the Align 91 engine. I'm going to put in the Align gov. over the next few weeks. I didn't get the gyro but I know plenty of guys that do have them and they fly great. Bottom line I would definitely buy them again. Put me back in the same position to purchase a new Align 600 or 700 today and I would buy the same equipment again. The only difference is now they have the LE kits that have all the electronics bundled in saving even more money. The only real 'issue' with the current lineup of Align heli's that I know of on the electronics side are the tail servos for the 250's and 450's. Most guys I know get better tail performance by putting a different servo on the tail. has nothing to do with the 600 or 700 conversation except to say that the Align electronics as a general rule seem to be pretty good.

Read up on the Align 2-1. I've had good success with them on my 50 size heli's but there is some debate on them.

Another vote for the LE electronics. They fly great. I've had the 610 servos in a few different helis and they've all been great. Governors work great, and even the gyro is right up there with the best. Heck, even the blades in the 600LE fly great. I'm very happy with my 600LE.

I am putting a 600LE together now, but no rush with a Buffalo Winter.
As a package, I did not find any competitor close to what Align is offering. I think Align has raised the bar (or lowered the price) enough that the competition better be worried.

In Aligns favor:
Decent electronics
Decent flying heli
Best price

Kyle,

I got the 700LE with my choice of electronics from GrandRC. Ed, the owner, let's you configure the kit the way you want, with whatever accessories and electronics you desire .

http://www.grandrc.com/inc/sdetail/161990

All you have to do when you select the kit, make sure you select LE.
When I purchase kits, I always go with GrandRC because of the flexibility of configuration . Right now they give 10% off for first time customers!

Hope this helps you.

At the precipice, we change!

I'm gonna have to say for me the electronics and heli are more than just decent. I've owned plenty of high end Futaba and JR servos. With these DS620 and 610 servos, they work every bit as good or better and have every bit of performance as the other brands.

I had 8717s and 620s at the same time and flew them back to back, in flight there was literally no difference except the fact that the 8717 where nearly double the cost. The 650 tail servo has proven to be a better tail servo than the 2 failed 8900G's I've had.

The 2 in 1 regulator is a genius thing with the glow ignitor built in, there have been dozens of them out at our field for quite a while now and I've never seen one crash a heli, not to say they don't fail time to time, but what electronics are bullit proof?

The 600N in LE form is extremely precise in whatever it does, the tolerances are so good there is just barely any slop in mine, has less slop on the bench than my Aurora did. Keep in mind, I'm no Align fanboy, but my opinions are based off of actual and continued experience with them as well as many others whos stuff is running great as well. Getting performance for a ton of money is no feat, getting performance products while keeping modest cost earns some respect.

Thanks for the responses. Seems like the answer is clear. I got out of the hobby last before Align was on the scene. I guess I'm just not used to this crazy "more for your dollar" idea! haha

Can the same good things be said about the Align nitro engines?

Align nitro engines are simply O.S. with Align logos... same motors.

Yes the engines are the same, but Align has no warranty. and when you try to sell, people would rather buy a OS vs. Align motor. Just my 2 cents.

New 2 in 1 very reliable. The most important thing is protect the wires. I love the ease of pushing a button, 2 lights on, glow plug is lit, only 1 lite, glow plug problem, as well as a visual battery indicator.
Started last year owning 0, now they are on everything I own that has a glow.

i am going to be ordering my Trex 600N LE (just kit) and since I have been away from the heli's for awhile is there any upgrades that would be a good idea, as I am building the kit? I am trying to get ordered tonight, so I can start building this weekend.
