In regards to the Radikal LT head. Has anyone had issues with the fly-bar cage binding against the long pitch links at extremes pitch (+/- 11 degrees)? When the flybar is moved up and down the edge of the metal inner cage rubs against the links causing them to bow slightly.

Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Sean Bosse

Yes, but only on the bench.

Your flybar will not move to those extremes in the air. What moves the flybar to their max angle is a sudden application of full cyclic. Then it would only be at that angle for a fraction of a second before the heli's body starts to respond to the cyclic command. You would never be giving full cyclic and full collective at the same time, as that would result in a total pitch of about 18, which no motor has the power to absorb.

Yes, but only when the rotor is not turning and the flybar and paddles are not stabalizing the flybar.

But if you will feel more comfortable by setting it up so it does not, simply cut off 1.5 to 2mm from each end of the plastic spacers that are between the two plates (HI3167G). This moves everything inboard, providing more clearance for the control rods in these extreme situations that would probably never occur in flight. (P.S. I have been doing this mode on all my Century helis for a couple of years now.)

I had suggested shorter spacers to Century a number of times, but I guess they have so many of the current versions that they haven't seen fit to make the change yet.

Great, thank you both for your input. I feel much better about flying it now knowing that is isn't something that I did.

Take care,
Sean

i've got the same issue on my nx50. after a while, you can actually see the wear on the flybar seesaw and also the plastic links themselves. amazingly, the century links seem be able to handle it. most of the time anyway. after over 500 flights, I've only broken the swash to mixer link once because of it(while doing aileron tic tocs). just gotta be careful not to give too much collective and cyclic at the same time or to be safe turn the swash mix values down.

well, if you want to learn, it looks like the radikal is more than capable.

as far as i know, the binding only happens on neg collective.

And after that many flights, it could well have came off because it was worn and looser then it should be. I have had links from other brands of helis become too loose from wear after only about 100 flights!!

Link was still attached to ball. Plastic broke where it threads onto rod.
