I have said before that my EXI flies at least as well as my TREX did. I don't think there are ANY Align or other big-name parts on it except blades, XL canopy, and the occasional screw. Maybe some ball links.

It does have decent electronics - HS65MG's, GY401, HS81, and Spektrum radio gear. But so did the 'Rex except it had a Telebee and HB's.

The only real quality difference I've seen is the aluminum frames are a little "bendier" but it still takes a crash to bend them.

A soul in tension is learning to fly

looks like you're pretty excited about stirring it up..

my original thread was a joke...mostly because there seems to be nothing but clone talk over there...

I think it's kind of funny that me and Ron(laughingstill) were being called out for our flying skills...

I personally NEVER brag or boast...it's just not cool...when I talk about something it's only because I have 1st hand knowledge ...

my original comments on that thread regarding the HB were meant to argue the fact that simply because the video shows the heli doing some mild 3d that doesn't make it a "good" 3d heli.

everyone has a preference and a choice to fly what they like...I think it's great that there are options and simply flying anything at all is better than nothing.

if anyone here would like to question my flying skills I am not trying to hide anything

I admit I'm no 3d master but here's something to look at : I made some sim vids with inputs to help out a buddy...just in case anyone is interested...

http://www.youtube.com/user/Jagcore72

AND BTW....if you need proof of me flying...there are some real vids there also ...

It's all water under the bridge. By the way, I recently completed my EXI 500 build (Trex 500 clone). If you'd like, I'll PM you when my first video flying the EXI 500 is uploaded to YouTube .

It's a little unfair to compare a 600 size heli like your Logo to the Honey Bee King which is a 300 size heli. How about the new Esky 900 (500 size heli)?

Watch at YouTube

Looks like the Esky 900 is every bit as capable as the Logo 600...sounds great too!

Racin06, it is pilot, not heli at this level. Jug has video flying 250.

Jag, I am sure you will fly with the same quality HBK in my setup.

Then another member gets involved and says there are safety issues with clones, yet doesn’t provide any evidence of such. Then Greybird, an arrogant member who always has to comment just to give the perception that he is an authority on RC helis, calls me a troll. Greybrid is still pissed at me because I called him out about a year ago when he criticized the HBFP and HBK2. I challenged Greybird to post a video of him flying his helis . Well, Greybird has over 5800 posts at RC Groups and not one video posted. All talk and no walk.
Well I am the "other member" guys. Racin06 seems to think that a person that can fly 3D then end all be all of heli-dom. As I said before in the other thread (which either he can't read or conveniently overlooks) I can't fly 3D (yet) but I think there is a problem with some of these clones that are made with less than acceptable QC. You want proof of the issues, well just go to the other site and look up the thread "HK-500GT 3D Helicopter Build Thread"

This time READ the first post....especially the part that says "You should NOT fly the HK-500GT until the following parts have been replaced:"

The very first suggestion is replacing the tail grips as they are made without thrust bearings and lock up @ HS above 2000 (Really?! who flies a 500 sized heli UNDER 2000 HS???)He even referenced another post where people said they had problems with the tail flying off If that is not a safety issue, I don't know what is!!!
There are a few more suggestions there also. I think I just "walked" ..........Ron

HK500GT tail grip issue was fixed.
The HK500 had swash issues.
The Xheli Blueray had front tail belt pully issues initially too.
Not unlike Align releasing a new heli (tail issues on the Align 250), the clones go through the same stuff.
some people want to replace some things on the EXI 500 but I have yet to do that.
People say to replace the head on the HBK2 or front tail drive and some do and some don't.
People were swapping out the motor on the Align Pro initially and I think they fixed that too.
It seems that buying ANYTHING right when it gets released is a bad idea unless your ready to deal with possible problems.

I recall on my TT e550, people told me to replace the tail hub w/ the SS one.

Dunno about other MFG helis but I know most of the clones had initial production run issues not unlike Align.

I'd say the Clones have bolstered Align's "quality" perception.
Some people take joy, satisfaction or maybe pride in either buying Align or Buying a clone. That's cool. I however don't subscribe to the "buy Align or someone's gonna get hurt" mentality that some people spew out.

The Hk-500GT did have some shortcomings right out of the chute, but, there have been some changes since the original kits were shipped. I am currently helping build a 500GT for my son which I purchased for him for Christmas. The tail now comes with thrust bearings. No, the quality is not quite as good as a trex (which I am currently building for myself) but with some careful tweaking I have been able to get the tail of the 500GT almost perfectly smooth.

Nice post, Melnic.

Ron, problems with one clone doesn't indicate problems with all clones. There have been issues with high-end helis, as well. Shall I go find some for you? And no...not even close to "walking."

These days, the only thing I look at is what you do with what you got, not weather it's clone, or a 500 or a 600, or a 250 or an Align or an EXI, only my 2 cents.

Ron,

Check out the photos of my EXI 500 Carbon Edition (Trex 500 Clone). Carbon frame, carbon fins, full metal head, full metal tail...no less quality than the Trex 500, unless you believe having a drive-belt versus a torque tube is less quality. Many guys are flying the EXI 500. I don't know of any problems. You should subscibe to my YouTube videos, so you can be notified when I post my first video flying the EXI 500 . Oh...I forgot...I'm also flying the EXI 500 with one of those POS lipos...the Turnigy 6S 3000mAh pack. Hopefully the lipo doesn't explode .
