I meant that first you have to take off the pull start dog latch then the flywheel which it has the key on the shaft. The hub side does not have a key.

Cheers

I was thinking about this post tonight when working my Predator. I had to remove my fan because I forgot the fan shroud base plate during assembly <dummy me!>

I put the fan hub removal tool on there and cranked it down, HARD. Didn't budge. Tried a few times putting more pressure than it should have needed.

Put the engine in front of my shop heater for a few minutes until the fan was warm enough to be a bit uncomfortable to handle. Tightened down the fan hub puller and it popped right off.

now it is time to put the fan back on and dial it in any suggestions motor is still in heli and rear x frame is still in place still has carb and stock box muffler on it . need to come up with a good mount for my dial indicator mag base wont stick well enough to the muffler to be able to get good consistant measurements for fan and clutch shoe

wife says if i'm going to be an addict at least its to a heli

I picked this up from AceBird and it works for me. Oil the fan hub and the end of the crankshaft. spin the fan on the crankshaft with pressure but not enough to cause the fan to grab the crank. You'll kind of feel when the crank end is working the aluminum fan hub. Spin it like that 10-12 times or so and check it. The oil should look dark gray. Wipe it all clean inside the fan hub and on the crankshaft. oil it again and mount the fan slowly turning it until it seats. put the bolt in and tighten it down but not super tight. check the runout. if it's within .001" you are good to go. if you need to move it should be able to loosen the bolt but 1/4 turn or so and pop the fan loose by hand.

doing this I have been able to get my fan on within about .001" pretty quickly. Of course I may be just lucky and have a really straight fan hub from the factory. I know the Hanson Zenoah I have has a straight crankshaft. Might be worth checking the runout on your engine crankshaft before starting, I've read some guys find runout on their crankshaft.

Best base for the ROI mounting is using the metal plate that comes with the Zenoah and clamping the ROI base to that plate. My ROI actually uses a C-Clamp base so it's pretty easy for me.
